He's on the Ukraine money laundering scheme list. He will vote blindly for any support to Ukraine. His family was enriched by Ukraine and that points to him being compromised.

There is absolutely 0 accountability or transparency for anything being sent to Ukraine. No documenting where the money is spent or sent. Just a multi billion dollar check and good luck with it. Ask for more when you spend it.

Most republicans are RINOs. Very few are disciplined and unbought. Elected officials should be servants to the people and not big business, but at this point, they solely serve big business. The system is purely broke.

That you even asked the question to start the thread is telling.

* It shows a real vacancy on your part in knowledge regarding politics.

I edited that post. I thought his voting record was way better that it actually is.

Another name in modern politics to blame throw or throw shade on somebody else instead of strong fiscal policy of your own.

Apparently if you have no plan you just shout

Libtard
Rhino
Tran
Brown

or some such till the other guy is the bad guy, even if he is not.

A RINO is one who, if charged in court with being a Republican, would be acquitted for lack of evidence.

They may talk the talk, but by their fruits you will know them.

It's amazing how so many of the names in this thread being mentioned as RINOs are actually the closest thing to Buckley classic conservatives and Reagan Republicans.

RINO has just become part of the greater Trump fealty test. Either a Republican member of Congress thinks that Trump is the greatest thing ever and never pushes back against Trump or they are a RINO and part of the Swamp or whatever other boogeyman Trump throws out there to corral his cult and convince his cult that greater sinister forces are out to destory them.

I, too, had the exact same question as the other guy. How is Romney a Rebpulican in name only? Your answer would be fascinating.

I’m pretty sure he has one of the most conservative records out there.

What makes him a RINO?

I was wrong about Mitt. 48% lifetime score. Damn. RINO for sure.

I consider Romney as one of those "what could have been".

I truly believe had he won in 2012, he could have been another Ronald Reagan for our country. We are seeing right now he was 1000% correct on his what happens when close to 50% of Americans pay no federal income tax statement. We're pretty much at that threshold now, crossed it in 2020 or 2021, which means the margins for any Republican candidate to win the White House are extremely thin. Too many people riding in the wagon, not enough pulling, and the vast majority of those riding don't want to have to jump back out and help pull.

However, something happened to him several years back. Maybe he never got over the 2012 loss, combined that with his back and forth with Trump, and he just doesn't seem to be the same politician he was previously. It's like he's gotten eaten up with resentment and has just gone off the deep end.

Anytime this subject comes up, I’ve come to ask what lasting/notable Republican/conservative achievements did the GOP gain for America and Americans in the 2 to 3 decades prior to Trump coming down the escalator?

20 to 30 years is not a small sample size so there should be some things easily pointed to/reminded as good examples.

If there are such examples then why did the GOP fail so badly in communicating those Republican/conservative achievements to the public?

I think ultimately the GOP has only itself to thank. If a significant chunk of the GOP base had been happy with the country’s progress under leaders like Bush, McCain, Romney, etc. then Trump/populism probably wouldn’t have been able to gain the foothold it did.

ETA - And my viewpoint on this always earns a few downvotes but to date, no one can ever tell me why my viewpoint is incorrect.

I agree with you, but I doubt we agree for the same reasons. Why is this thread so telling? What assumptions need to be made in order to ask this question?

Democrat currently. Anyone that is beholden to the party in charge. These people have no underlying principles. They just exist to serve the machine.

The main issue in our government today is that the current crop of Democrats don't move. In the past they were exactly like the RINO's of today.

If we had an actual Republican party that existed like the Democrats currently do we wouldn't have the bullshite we see on a daily basis. I would argue the RINO's are more of a threat to the country than the Democrats. At least the Democrats are honest about who they are and the stupid shite they are pushing.

RINO's are giving you the illusion of an opponent.

It's interesting that a "Democrat currently" probably gives the best answer of the thread.
