WTF is OP talking about? All of the elderly I know are pretty conservative. Sure, there is a residue of old hippies who never really grew up, but they are not long for this world and are not the majority anyway.

They’ve turned politics and activism into their religion

This right here. They still watch the ABC, CBS, NBC nightly news at 5:30 like they’ve done since the 60s. No awareness the MSM changed to propaganda along the way.

They’re retired and don’t have anything better to do and someone offered them money to relive the 60’s.

The 60s, they're left over hippies.
While I still look like an old hippie, I am baffled by other Boomers who are Democrat idiots today. In my era, it was all about not trusting the Establishment. I started growing my hair long to protest Vietnam as much as to represent my love of rock music and being radical. Well today, I don't understand how people don't see Trump as the anti-Establishment! Trump is for the people, against the Deep State/Big Government, why can't people see that? The Democrat Party is the Establishment of today! My wife was even confronted in one of our car clubs by some older Boomer women as to how she could believe the 2020 election was stolen! Needless to say, we had to pull out of that car club after almost 35 years! So just to reflect, it's not all Boomers, or in my case, not all old hippies that fall for the leftist Dem bullshite of today! I am all MAGA, Hippies for Trump!

They got to love thru some of the easiest times/Hippy Utopia bullcrap of the 60’s and childhood in the 50’s where it was arguably the best times to grow up without much adversity at all.
They have no idea what they’ve done to this country.
Especially the “Mid-Westerners”
Those idiots have golden parachute Union pensions that are subsidized and protected, all the while they voted in the Democrats that mainly sold us out to Chyyyna manufacturing and stripped their own descendants in the mid-west from their industrial capacities/manufacturing, steel and coal country.
They are a bunch of buffoons and they can’t die off soon enough.

It is a small minority of Boomers. 90% of boomers are conservative.

65+ voted 51-48 for Trump in 2024.

Unions,
Professions heavily represented among Boomer protesters include:
University professors and faculty: In May 2024, The Wall Street Journal noted that many older faculty members joined student-led protests, drawing on their experience from activism in the 1960s and 70s. A significant number have participated in demonstrations concerning free speech and university crackdowns.
Other social service workers: Crowds in Michigan at "Tesla takedown" protests in March and April 2025 were described by Business Insider as including many retired social workers who had worked in publicly funded jobs.
Postal union members: Photographs and reports from the April 2025 anti-Trump protests documented signs held by participants indicating their affiliation with the postal union.
Healthcare workers: Labor unions like the American Federation of Teachers (AFT), which represents nurses and other healthcare professionals, have been involved in organizing recent rallies such as the "No Kings" protests.
Lawyers and federal employees: The New York Times noted that the "No Kings" protests in October 2025 included lawyers and fired government employees among the demonstrators.
This broad representation reflects that many Boomer protesters have a history of public service or union membership, often motivated by concerns over retirement, economic stability, and what they see as a threat to democratic institutions.
