Ladies and gentlemen, I present to you the district the Little Village area is within, Illinois' 4th Congressional District:

This district is a gerrymandered carve-out specifically for hispanics and is represented in Congress by Jesús G. "Chuy" García. The district is partially made up of the remnants of the old "earmuffs" district, which was one of the most gerrymandered districts in the US (to the point where it resembled a pair of earmuffs when mapped out).

Chicago machine gonna Chicago machine, and no matter how destructive it is there will be people who will romanticize it for the sake of politics.

Couldn't be that U SAID was being funneled to prevent organizers, could it?

Hmm?

Imagine if they went back with the knowledge theyve picked up, and this work ethic. Mexicans wouldn't want to leave the country they love more than here.

Corona is looked down at by garbage anyway. This cancelation just hurt themselves. Frick'em.

Homan's boys could roll into Bensenville and likely deport 3/4's of the residents.

In a joint statement, the Cermak Road Chamber of Commerce and Casa Puebla announced their decision behind calling off the traditional Cinco de Mayo parade, which also usually includes musical performances and other festivities.

"Our community is very frightened because of the raids and the threat that ICE has imposed on the families that work tirelessly to provide a better future for their kids," the statement read. "Our community has faced bullying and prosecution and are not indulging in community activities, therefore we feel that there is nothing to celebrate."

Oh good Lord, poor, poor, me....a person that is living in a country illegally and I'm scared because I'm being bullied and prosecuted.

But not frightened enough to do what is required to become a legal citizen of the US.

And obviously less afraid than they were in their home country

Damn, they're on to us. We had them all in one place. Oh well, we'll get them another way.

They seem to fail to recognize that they work, tirelessly, but do so illegally.

What's to fear if you are here legally?

Exactly.

For those who need an analogy, if you’re at a Bulls game and you bought a ticket, they won’t just kick you out without cause. But if you snuck into the arena, you might want to keep your head in a swivel.

Cinco de Mayo is a huge event and very real in my view. It’s the anniversary date of my divorce going final.

I shall proudly pour a Modelo in commemoration of the happiest day of my life.

Another way of saying they are afraid the law will be enforced.

Cinco de Mayo is a made up American event promoted by beer companies and restaurants. It's not celebrated in Mexico.

Yeah, I was scuba diving in Cozumel, probably in the spring of 1980. Tourism wasn't really big back then, like it is now, with all the cruise ships that dock there every day. It was, and still is, a fantastic diving spot—some of the best diving anywhere but the South Pacific.

Downtown Senor Frogs rocked, but other than that, it was a sleepy little fishing village/island.

We walked to the central Plaza Square in the early evening to catch the Cinco De Mayo celebration. Heh, not a damn thing was going on! I asked my dive master about it the next morning, and he just laughed in broken Spanglish and told me no one here had ever heard of it!
