That I take issue with. Fear tends to kill logic. The two can rarely coexist.

This is a great example.
Now...having said all that, like many if not most issues like this, there is a kernel of truth in it.
When people like Ann Coulter say that it should be a requirement for someone to be native born to run for office, or that immigration without assimilation is a destabilizing national issue, they're right.
It's true that for "hyphenated Americans," if the "American" part isn't more important to you than whatever comes before the hyphen, you're not contributing to the solidarity, stability, and thriving of the nation, you're subtracting from it. "Diversity" only works if there is at least one point of unity that is stronger than the diversity. Otherwise it's just constant fighting.
It's also true that nobody has a right to come here, sovereign nations have the right to say no to anybody they want, and maintaining a national culture is paramount for societal survival.
But that has pretty much nothing to do with race and pretty much everything to do with culture.

I agree with all of the above also. There are countries where we should restrict immigration from due to cultural misalignment. That doesn't mean we should be in irrational fear over immigrants of all types. And particularly not based soley on race.
If a ton of productive Japanese people want to come here I'm not going to have a problem with it just because they aren't European whites.

It all comes down to the individual at the end of the day
Some white people obsess about their Irish ancestry or whatever. As long as they're productive members of society and assimilate I don't have any reason to be concerned.

No blacks as a group do not identify as just American. They identify as black American, African American or both. Their representation in DC, churches, state governments hoods , media, entertainment industries make a point of saying this regularly. Do they Black Caucus or caucus as Americans? BET much ? Black Twitter ? Or my all time favorite Black National Anthem song as precursor to sports games ? Please tell me you see this, I hate to think that you’re oblivious to what actually happens ?
