to the southern rich which obviously controlled the southern government yes, but to a large part of the south it was "the second war of independence" . During any speech made by southern generals or writings down to southern privates diaries is slavery ever mentioned, most believed they were defending their country against an invasion.

Almost every western country has abolished slavery by 1865. In France, Denmark, Netherlands, Great Britain, it had been abolished for many years.

And the same thing would've happened here. Slave labor for agrarian purposes was becoming expensive and inefficient.

Slavery is to the Civil War as BLM is to the current Marxist movement. Nothing more than a useful tool to create the appearance of moral high-ground.

Civil war was fought generally over the power of a centralized government and money, and specifically because the North invaded the South.

It was the trigger, but not the cause.

and yet it still exists today. However no complaint, concern or even remotely expressed interest from you and your Marxist ilk.

BLM?
Stick it!

Black lives don't matter a rat's arse to you bud. Black lives are in slavery right now. Not a peep about it.

I mean it’s hard to force an I issue on a separate independent country with a carrot.

Remember, slavery was common around the world at the time.

We were behind most of Europe by 20-40 years.

The majority of the world's civilized nations eventually did away with slavery amicably. We could have and should have done it peacefully too.

Again, how do you end it amicably when the South has removed itself? You just let it fizzle out?

I always Put it this way:

The South Seceded mostly because of slavery. Anyone who says otherwise is ignoring facts.

HOWEVER, people get wya to altruistic about why the North decided they needed to go to war to keep the South From seceding. It was to preserve the Union.

Slavery was the single issue that instigated the divide but it was an issue that fell under the umbrella of individual states' rights. Slavery was symbolic of the movement which is why it was so prominent, but most people weren't fighting for slavery, they were fighting for freedom (to own slaves or not to), as they saw it.

So slavery was an important factor in the Civil War, but it was representative of a larger ideal that the states were fighting for.

Irrelevant.

This ends with Communists demanding an elimination of US pride, an erasure of US history, a redo of the US Constitution d/t the 3/5ths compromise, and an institution of Maoist Communism.

Got it!

This has nothing whatsoeffingever to do with the Confederacy, southern pride, states rights, slavery, or ANY statues or flags!

But the statues are not of common, run of the mill soldiers, they are of the people who owned slaves and had a vested interest in keeping slavery legal.

I agree with your point in principle, but there is something a lot of people don't address which probably led to the Civil War becoming a hot kinetic conflict: The country at the time was quickly expanding Westward, and everyone knew that the spread West would lead to many many new states. It was a massive point of contention as to whether new states would become part of the Republic as a free non-slave state, or a state that allowed slavery. It horrified those in the North to imagine a whole bunch of new states to be that would be admitted into the Republic as slave states, and it horrified those in the South to think that all of these potential new states would outlaw slavery. The below link talks a little bit about the Kansas-Nebraska act and it's ramifications in paving the way to a shooting Civil War.

The Left promises that only Confederate statues will be removed. It's the Right Wing Terrorists who are destroying property and pulling down the other statues.

And, of course, we are all willing and eager to believe what the left says = lies about. Yeap, and Santa is real!

Also most of these statues were not built right after the war, but rather later during the Civil Rights movement and Jim Crowe in order to send a message that their was a status quo that was going to be maintained.

Are we pretending that there weren't Union war monuments being built at the same time?

Are we also pretending that the Civil Rights movement didn't coincide with the centennial anniversary of the conflict?

As far as messaging, if anything was intended as a message, the monuments were a "frick you" to Yankees for forced segregation. Most blacks in those days didn't feel the same about the war as blacks do now and its hard for me to understand how a war memorial would intimidate them anyway.

Democrats fought for slavery then and continue to fight to keep the blacks on the plantation. Some things never change.

With modern machinery on the horizon I doubt it was as big an issue as made out to be. I think it had more to do with not liking being told what to do by a bunch of northerners.

Most of the world had already abolished slavery by the time the civil war transpired.
