The optimist in me doesn't believe it really always gets the traction we sometimes fear.

People who are doing generally well (which is a good majority of the country), typically understand and don't really give too much a shite that there are other much richer people out there.

Maybe if you are a coward that is scared of a smudge of bad pr.

Anytime a dem has to actually debate some retarded stat they have concated its game over.

The right would be much better if all the chicken little scared of narrative would shut up

My two-cent wealth tax on families like the Waltons would help level the playing field for working families and rebuild the middle class.

She's really going hard in the paint for this wealth tax.

In essence, she's saying that no one is allowed to own anything. It's only on loan from the government.

I'm the board chair of a charter school in Memphis. We just broke ground on a $6M middle school and gym largely funded by the Walton Foundation

They hate poor people because they didn't give you a $12 million facility

I'm gonna think (hope) it was a quip with regard to how much the OP realizes they already do this.

so each Walmart heir Makes $8,320,000,000 per year

thats what the $4,000,000/hr x 40 hr x 52 =

Sounds like "fuzzy Math"

Washington Post article

post states:

quote:

Though Walmart is a publicly traded company, more than 50 percent of its shares are in the hands of the Walton family — 51.11 percent

quote:

Walmart’s most recent quarterly dividend was 52 cents a share, or $2.08 a year.

In other words, the Walton family earns $3,138,649,017.92 just in dividends a year, before adding in income from salaries, director’s fees and so forth. Yep, that’s more than $3.1 billion.

We have no idea how many hours a week members of the Walton family work on business, but a standard workweek is 40 hours, or 2,080 hours a year. That works out to $1.51 million an hour — or more precisely, $25,149 a minute.

so it looks like this is based on the "family" owning 50+% of shares and $0.52/share in dividends....

quite a stretch, that also means they are giving the resit of the invested public almost as much to their retirement plans....

This is from a company that generate around $500,000,000,000 in revenue each year..... and directly employs 2,200,000 people around the world

Using the same kind of math that Walmart heirs make $1,400 off of each of their employees....

if i only made my boss a net profit of $1,400 i wouldn't be imployed

Eleven bucks and hour is not bad for entry-level retail.

Maybe they do donate a lot to causes and stuff and just don't say anything. Either way, it's their money. Their family took the risk, their family built the company, they are reaping the benefits. Not for us to take it away just because reasons

And none of those employees are now or has ever been employed by a poor person. The wealth in this country is why jobs are plentiful and why poor people everywhere want to come here. It just be's that way.
