You're free to start a similar business model and pay your employees twice what Walmart pays. Why aren't you doing that?

Very superficial and widely missing the point.

No its not

Apply that to your day care provider, your school crossing guard, your building janitor, your grass cutter, your garbage man, your hotel maid, your gym receptionist, and eventually people will be making less than each of them, for caring too much

And then people wont care what Warren says, or anyone like her

I hate WM as much as the next guy, but this comment is just stupid. They donate as much, if not more, than any other wealthy family out there.

And as for stupid pocahontas: people are free to start their own business. I worked for WM for a while. No one put a gun to my head. I hated it, so I left. Its America.

The Waltons fund and support charter schools in the Delta, in both Arkansas and Mississippi.

They donate to environmental groups, particularly to some in Colorado who manage water quality in mountain streams.

They've donated enough to mountain biking, trail construction, public buildings architecture fees, the performing and visual arts, and various other quality of life initiatives in Northwest Arkansas the past decade that it is probably closer to $1 Billion than it is to $100 million.

They donated $120 million just last year to the University of Arkansas to found a separate "School of Art".

They've donated to many, many more worthwhile causes around the country and around the world.

For idle rich, you could do a helluva lot worse than the Walton clan.

People like you are the problem. Why is it anyone else's concern what other people do with their money?

Also, you really don't think the Walton's donate money to charity?

so which one is it??? have some courage to take a position.

There is nothing I said that would be mutally exclusive. Government giveaways frick up the labor market, and allow places like wal-mart to employ shitty business practices.

I can use smaller words if it'll help, but I can only explain it to you. I can't understand it for you.

It’s a very superficial analysis that ONLY sees good in the WalMart/Amazon phenomenon.

What's the purpose of Amazon and Walmart?

re: Warren going hard after Walton family
Hypothetically, if a wealth tax is ever passed (it won't don't worry baws), how will get passed forcing the rich to liquidate their assets?

Just in theory a forced sale seems dangerous and counterintuitive for somebody that wants to milk rich people for their tax dollars. Their wealth deteriorates every year based on the tax itself but so will the value of their assets based on an annual liquidation of assets. The market would completely re-price all assets knowing that the main shareholders can't maintain control of their companies over time. There are so many property rights violations it's not even funny. This idea is literally socialist. She wants to control the most important means of production - capital. Most of her other ideas she wants to control labor and entrepeneurship. Don't ever let anybody tell you she's not a socialist.

On top of that, wealth is already taxed through property, sales, and even capital gains taxes.

This isn't a tax. it is straight up theft.

The Walton family started, grew and maintain one of the largest, most successful companies of all-time. They’ve earned the right to make that much money. They should be an example of what can be done in this country, not looked at as evil.

Walton Family Foundation awarded $600 million in 2018

They're at some $4B+ over the last decade.

It wouldn't be though. Rich people are smarter than the government. Couldn't these families just issue enough debt to offset their assets to equal less than $50M? If it's a "wealth tax" they could game the law
