You have no policy ideas. You’re looking for someone to blame.

Your issue is real. The solutions are complex and largely un-executable.

Young people are 100% justified in feeling like the country sold them out because it did.

And that's what makes this moment in history so dangerous when people are feeling like that that's when a lot of marxist takeovers happen.

They all want to write video game code all day long and sip lattes, or they want to be Instagram star/millionaires, or they believe that they can make $300,000 a year with their degree in gender studies

Let’s be honest, that age group, or at least a vary large portion of it, doesn’t have a real realistic expectation of what economic opportunity is

They don’t want to go buy some tools and get a job working at a factory or working somewhere that requires you to show up on time and get dirty to make 75K a year

To you.

This is the issue. This is like if someone has a breakdown and everyone goes "Hey, everything is okay. No need to be upset."

Do you think they're feeling that way for fun? If it's one person, perhaps it's a perspective change that's needed. When it's most of the country, maybe things are as bad they seem. Maybe things aren't actually as good as they seem.

This is always my favorite response. How exactly am I doing this. I recognize the issues. I’m merely pointing out that doing things that are indubitably going to make things even worse is stupid.

If anyone is digging their heads in the sand, it’s people who aren’t involved in making things better until it’s time to vote and then go blindly vote for an obviously terrible and harmful opposition just to stick it to the man

Out of control government spending combined with Trump’s COVID policies killed the value of the dollar. Trump’s actions in 2020 followed by him balking on DOGE only to follow with the Big Beautiful Bill are DIRECT causes of our inflation

This is the correct answer (even though the Doge part is mostly irrelevant).

How do you unwind that?

If these lazy millenials would’ve put their money into the stock market 50 years ago they’d be rich like us boomers

Do I think young people don’t have a total grasp on complex economic conditions and the comparison of their lot in life to days gone by? Yes. That’s the case for most generations when they’re in your spot.

No, according to math.

Would you like me to post some data to support that?

A 30 year old was only 5 years old when 9/11 happened. Never got to experience how awesome the US was pre 9/11.

Add to this that AI will eliminate a substantial portion of their job opportunities. Meanwhile, politicians are telling them they will get those data centers and like it.

What amount of the affordability crisis is due to tariffs?

Not sure. The fed said the tariffs caused roughly a 2.9% increase by early 2026. That has a ripple effect and some goods are more affected by others.

Need to see more policy like interest tax credits for cars with VINs manufactured in the U.S. if we want to influence manufacturing.

We can’t not without a huge crash or straight up revolt

That’s why people stayed home during this election. They just threw up their hands

It’s buckle up time now

When did fuel prices go up?

Yeah. The Iran war is a shitshow.

It’s not that much of a contributor to the current “affordability crisis.”
