So empty promises is ok if you're President. Gotcha.

By having a small minority of the GOP join in with the DEMs?

95%+ of the GOP voted for KM and their constituents support that.

The small minority are the ones that got him elected as speaker on the 15th ballot. McCarthy didn't keep his promises to them.

Either way, Matt Gaetz just escorted Hakeem Jeffries into the speaker's chair.

Please explain this.

Don’t you have to be an elected congressman to become speaker of the house?

I'm amazed at the lack of civics knowledge

The general population, including a percentage of posters here, are barely functioning above retarded level.

Her level of disgust with CRs

Nancy Mace is right on this. It's hard for me to think of a more disgusting aspect of our current accepted governance process.

It's bad enough that it was ever done to begin with. It's even worse that it's been perpetuated for decades with no end in sight, and very little motivation from either party to end it.

CRs wouldn't be needed if they did their damn jobs in ther first place. It's not like the budget sneaks up on them as a last minute gotcha.

Unfortunately you have too much stupid shite going on like Tuberville trying to blackmail the military so they have to have voice votes to confirm.

This makes me sad. The equities markets also seem to be sad.

It's not taught in schools anymore, so you pretty much have to self-educate, and that's hard for most people.

I see Jim Jordan is throwing his hat in. Honestly I think he may have a good chance. Overall I'm liking whomever Gaetz nominates for it and if that's Scalise (whom I'm pretty damn skeptical of) then so be it. Let's see if they can salvage anything out of their fleeting control of the house.

First, IF ONLY. The GOP Needs to be a “heap of ashes”. I’ve long said nothing will change until it’s strangled and buried in the dust, so that it can be replaced by a REAL right wing party.

Second, if Jeffries becomes speaker, it won’t be because of Gaetz and the other rebels. It’ll be because the remaining Christine Todd Whitman “Main street Republican” types join with the Democrats to prove what “moderates” they are.

Again, we need a new part that has no place for such people. “Big Tent” has failed us.

Just heard that these clowns are going on vacation for a week. Any RINO crying about how bad this is is full of spit.

It won't be Scalise. McCarthy and his posse (including Garrett Graves) are adamantly opposed to Scalise and won't vote for him.
