when democrats take over in 2024, and control house, senate and president. We’re screwed.
I have been telling people this all day.
KM isn't great, but ousting him is going to consolidate power with the DEMs. How is that a victory?
So, you really think there is a difference between Pubs and Dems based on who controls, that is so cute.

We know the DEMs will vote unanimously to jump on any opportunity presented, so the GOP has razor thin breathing room right now.
Voting in Scalise does nothing to further the Gaetz, et al agenda.
Probably not. Punishing those that cross you, though, while elevating a new guy, you at least have a fighting chance.
It isn't some masterstroke of brilliance to continue to repeat that conservatives can't get their agenda done with one house and without the presidency. They inflicted a mortal blow to someone that double-crossed them. After he double-crossed them, he didn't even have the good sense to refrain from purposefully rubbing their noses in it and forcing them to do this. Sometimes running through a duplicitous moron for being a duplicitous moron is enough.

The fight is not over.
Now we must elect a Speaker.

Uh, yeah. Have you seen the Supreme Court lately?

Jim Jordan, even though he was a traitor on that vote

I wonder what the odds are McCarthy ends up the leader for being re-elected SOH
Yeah that's my thought too. I'm not necessarily heart broken to see McCarthy go, didn't love him as speaker to begin with.
But without a willing and supported replacement ready to go we're essentially back where we were in January with Gaetz holding things up with no alternative plan just scrolling through a list of names for vote who don't even want it and we ultimately ended up with McCarthy anyway.
Without a succession plan, it feels like a rewrite of the same script. We get into a repetitive stalemate and McCarthy dishes out promises and he'll really really mean it this time and vote after vote he starts getting more scabs to cross the picket line.

The desire for purity is killing the party. Nothing better for democrats.

What victory has the GOP had with KM as speaker? I'll wait.

That was an eternity ago in political terms.

Yeah. At least Jim Jordan has silenced people trying to push him by voting No.
Who the frick wants to be SOH? Other than Democrats, obviously.

The calculus changes a bit now. A new name can now drum up support without ruffling McCarthy who was the clear favorite the first time around. In round one, you had to be afraid that if you tried to be speaker, McCarthy would punish you if he won. Now, you can openly be ambitious and claim it is for the good of the party and not have to step on McCarthy to do it. You just have to step over his corpse.

No, you’ve been saying that KM wasn’t going anywhere and that Gatez didn’t have the votes. Now that your shite has been pushed in, you’re in the bargaining stage of your grief

We don't want Republican legislators who consort with the democrats.
I agree. I don’t want those Republicans either.

The difference here is it's no one's "turn" this time around. The go along to get along Rino's that just want to show up to vote and then go back to their yachts where they brag about being in Congress don't have anyone to consolidate behind and will likely back whoever to get it over with. The gentleman's club voted for McCarthy the first time. There is no next in line scenario here. It could very well be one of the 8.

So Mitch only became bought and paid for within the past 2 years? After decades in office?

Again, see stout's thread.
My larger point stands. This is going to give DEMs more power. That is a bad thing for non-DEMs.

I'm not sure what point you are trying to make.
