McCarthy gone. Renee Elmer’s hardest hit, or will be later tonight

Even funnier the next speaker is Hakeem Jefferies.
I’ll give Gaetz credit for keeping his word. But who on earth is going to replace McCarthy that will be viewed as an improvement by Gaetz and Co? My gut is that the devil we knew was better than the devil we don’t. How long until that Speaker (assuming it’s an R) gets the same treatment? Where does it end?

Eat their own only in the broadest and most charitable sense of those words possible. Did you see the CR? Did you see the previous CR?

This country is gone. Democrats never stray from the party line vote. Republicans eat their own and continually get played as useful idiots by the Democrats.
If you want government run by straight party line votes, the commies will welcome you with open arms.

He either had to rely on the DEMs or get nothing passed and face the 8-person splinter group of Republicans.
who is going to want to follow him into that pit?
He could've tried to get things passed. Even if he failed, he would have lived up to his promise and he would still be speaker.
No legislation is better than bad legislation. Gridlock is often good.

So does Gaetz have a part 2 of his plan and have a replacement ready and willing to serve with a base of support to vote yes. Or are we going to play round and round for a week while we put up half the house for nomination?

Yes. I read both. I wonder how many people celebrating this actually did.

That is the $1T question.
We know the DEMs will vote unanimously to jump on any opportunity presented, so the GOP has razor thin breathing room right now.
Voting in Scalise does nothing to further the Gaetz, et al agenda.

Dems and RonBots will be so mad if a HFC member gets the gavel after years of the establishment caucus rule.
Can we choose a real HFC member and not a poser like Massie was?

I wonder what the odds are McCarthy ends up the leader for being re-elected SOH

You’re looking at it all wrong. The republicans are outnumbered in the house 427-8.

Odd that Bobert didn’t follow Gaetz with this vote.
I saw she was quoted as saying "not for now" when her name was called

Um...did you see the vote today?
This was a Democrat policy with 8 GOP members supporting the DEM position.

I have been telling people this all day.
KM isn't great, but ousting him is going to consolidate power with the DEMs. How is that a victory?

Those 8 just voted with a unanimous DEM bloc
