The Democrats are asking the US Supreme Court to effectively put that order on hold for this year’s midterm election.

Desperation in hopes of preserving the result they connived to achieve.

Sounds By Any Means Necessary-ish.

Hopefully the USSC doesn’t even entertain the request.

KKKBJ slow walked her dissent for 7 months for the purpose of creating this exact crisis

She should be flogged and then put in stocks in the town square.

Stop repeating the drivel you're getting from Reddit and Blue Sky and actually look at what each case was about.

The Louisiana case was because a lower court ordered the state to draw a 2nd majority black district. That's how we ended up with Cleo Fields gerrymandered district. The lower court's ruling was appealed to SCOTUS who ruled that it was unconstitutional to draw maps based on race.

Virginia's own state constitution lays out the process for how the state draws its congressional maps. The ballot initiative the VA democrats tried to ram through violated the state constitution in multiple ways. So Republicans filed suit and their state supreme court agreed.

Next time maybe the Virginia democrats can try not to completely disregard their state constitution

The Supreme Court only reviews state court decisions that present a federal question, meaning the case must involve the U.S. Constitution, federal statutes, or treaties. The Court does not correct errors in state law but ensures uniform interpretation of federal law. If a litigant claims a state court misapplied or ignored federal constitutional rights, such as those under the First or Fourteenth Amendments, the Supreme Court may have jurisdiction.

The Supreme Court will not review a state court decision if it rests on adequate and independent state grounds, even if a federal issue is involved. This ensures state courts retain control over their legal interpretations and prevents the Supreme Court from issuing rulings that would not affect the case’s outcome. If a decision is based entirely on state law and does not depend on federal law, the Supreme Court lacks jurisdiction.

I know your thought commanders don't inform you otherwise, so you don't know, but you should take a look at the Chicago districts and the northern New England states before you try any "they did it first" attempts.

Why should they? They've made their ruling.

Why should they? They've made their ruling.

The Louisiana case would have very little relevance on the VA litigation.

Just for the record, this is nothing more than a Democrats trying to drum up all the hatred and vitriol they can muster against the Supreme Court. They fully realize this appeal is completely without merit and has no basis in law. But they’ll claim that this is just another case of the Supreme Court politicizing the judiciary because they didn’t get their way.

If they ever take control of the government again, they’ll use this case to try to stack the Supreme Court. And, of course, their biggest cheerleaders will be Justice Affirmative Action Jackson and SlowF*ckingPinhead.

The VA Supreme court didn't say that they couldn't do it... they just said that the way they did it this time was wrong. As in... go back and do the same thing... but do it right this time. Then have your vote.

Right? Or am I wrong?

why would the US supreme court take up a case pertaining to a violation of an individual state's constitution?

Like you, Don Quixote and others point out... I wouldn't expect them to.

Democrats are looking for the political talking points of...

"Ultra MAGA US Supreme Court allowed Republicans to do what they wanted, but not the Democrats"

For low IQ, it is a perfect message the DNC will have already ready for their politicians and the mainstream media to promote.

The timing was 1 of 4 issues that could take it down, and the one that made the others irrelevant. So yeah it was smacked down in numerous ways.

"Asking the federal court to overrule the states constitution. Lol. Good luck with that one"

Agreed, and it is the state constitution as just construed by the state's highest court. I don't see how this has a chance.

I'm anticipating that SCOTUS will rule next month that counting absentee ballots that come in after election day is unconstitutional.

You want to see gnashing of teeth, screaming, hyperventilating and hair on fire? Tune into MSNBC and NBC and CNN after the ruling. THAT is going to cause a meltdown of all meltdowns. I can't wait!
