And this is how Republicans are stupid.

They should be in support of freedom, 100%.

If adults want to watch or make porn its none of our fricking business.

This is more self-sabotage from the RNC, in order to make the uni-party stronger.

I would be in favor of all porn being available under a .porn domain. It would be very easy for parents and businesses to block one single domain.

Whether you are pro-porn or anti-porn this is a stupid idea for the simple fact that there is no bright line. In a society where thousands of people scream that 'speech is violence' there will be wild definitions of what constitutes porn.

The left's insanity should make this easy but moronic Republican politicians decide to go pick fights like this instead.

Not necessarily. Government does play "morality police" all the time, in many ways, even in ways we appreciate (justice). We just disagree on which morality we want to enforce, and how to go about it at times.

It's more symbolic than anything.

Mike Lee knows this won't work, but at least it creates a focus and awareness of ubiquitous online Porn that should NOT be as over-accessibility to kids as it is.

Give Lee credit. It's a noble and commendable gesture. Addictions to Porn is a real thing -- and especially destructive to kids. Something should be done to regulate the online proliferation of porn to *some* degree.

One of the worse thread starters. Put some effort into it and give some cliffs in the OP.

Repubs just can’t stop shooting themselves in the foot over stuff like this.

This does nothing but give the left more ammo for the ‘Republican moral tyranny’ line of attacks.

Porn didn't ruin anything. Just like a gun, by itself, doesn't kill anyone. People choosing to access it is what causes the adverse effects you speak off (except for human trafficking where people are forced to do porn...which is probably VERY rare relative to the industry).

Cigarettes are legal. Smoking them can cause very serious health issues. Yet, somehow people have been able to avoid those by simply choosing to not smoke. No different than porn. If you are worried about the negative effects, simply choose to not access it.

I'm all for freedom of choice. But I'm also in favor of society not having to be responsible for those who make poor choices.

Agreed. And they shouldn’t.

quote:

justice

I’m not sure I would concede that justice = morality; tho I’m open to listening to an argument claiming such.

But for discussion’s sake … I’ll go with the premise.
Without justice, however, we have anarchy.

A functional court system dealing with crimes against humanity seems like a far reach from one man’s legislation aimed at protecting couples from their personal intimacy issues.

Just my opinion.

Exactly.

Porn is an under-the-radar scorn. (NOBODY is going to take away anyone's porn.)

Yet....when a Senator proposes modifying, regulating to *some* degree -- or at least starting a convo on addressing its access, people ridicule it??

Lee isn't introducing this Bill to enact it; He's starting a much needed conversation over awareness that the abuse of porn (and over-accessibility) has been creating many social problems. MANY affect kids.
