Hmmm, this could be quite a money maker:

Iran: Hey Bob, visit the Middle East and cross the border into Iran (we'll send you a map of where to cross). We'll arrest you for being a spy. You tell the US govt you were a tourist and just got lost and now you're being tortured. We'll actually put you up in our best hotel.
The US will pay us $1 Billion for your release. We'll give you $1 Million and send you home.

Bob: I want $5 million.

Iran: We'll make it $3 million and throw in a young female roommate of your choice to help pass the time.

Bob: It's a deal.

Why? It isn't our money.

How many pallets of cash is that?

60 pallets of $100 bills.
It would require at least 3 semi trucks with 53' trailers.
It would require 4x C-130 cargo aircraft to deliver $6B in $100 bills, on pallets.

This is $1B in $100 bills. When weighed in $100 bills, 1 billion dollars weighs approximately 10,000 kilograms.

They were being held in Evin Prison. By all accounts, that is an unpleasant experience.

So, essentially, you have now given Iran incentive to take more hostages. Wonderful.

In a perfect world I should be able to walk through the worst ghettos of Chicago or Baltimore at 11:00 pm and not be harassed or held up at all. But I also know we don't live in a perfect world and traveling to those areas knowingly creates a risk for my safety. Same with Americans traveling to Iran. Even for completely non-threatening purposes.

Thus, why should it be important for the US government, who purportedly serves the entire US, to increase the potential for danger to ALL US citizens by giving a government who unabashedly hates the US a large some of money simply to free 4 bozos who knowingly chose to disregard risk by traveling to Iran?

Yea. The “red line” in Syria didn’t go well either. The change of government in Libya didn’t go well either. The withdrawal from Afghanistan didn’t go very well either. The Ukrainian offensive (directed by the United States, Produced by the MIC, costarring a few European countries) isn’t going well either. The “Arab Spring”? “Assad must go!”, diplomatic intervention in Yemen? “Russian Reset”? Chinese expansion objectives?

What’s the common denominator there?

You have to understand, you’re posing this question to someone that thinks US isolationism was the reason for 9/11

Should we be trying to repatriate them is the worst way imaginable? Repatriate them in a way that puts a target with a LARGE dollar sign on the back of all Americans? Repatriate them in a way that provides the path for Iran to recover it's frozen money?

It's anti-American to bring Americans back home from hostage? You can disagree with unfreezing the assets, but don't act like it is unamerican to consider these guys being released from prison and sent home to be a good thing.

I never said anything like that.

Why do you lie?

I think we both know the answer to that question. You lack the wit to engage in an honest debate.

What is anti-American about:

(1) thinking that the US should try to repatriate its citizens, when they are imprisoned without cause?

(2) acknowledging that we have frozen Iran's accounts?

(3) asking what Iranians prisoners might be included in the deal and what crimes they committed?

TIA.

(not really expecting a serious response from Boure. His contributions seldom amount to more than drive-by insults).

No. You just posted a picture of a plane hitting one of the towers as your response in a thread about the outcomes of us isolationism in the mid-late 90s

I don’t lie.

Why do you confuse being ashamed of your own stupidity with other people lying?

You think the mccloskeys destroyed their own gate, rittenhouse committed murder, 9/11 was the result of us isolationism, white people are obsessed with wakanda, there were actual gallows intended to hang Mike pence in dc on January 6, hunter biden is the same as Reagan’s son, etc. And I’d be remiss if I didn’t mention, you fully support the sexualization of children.

You lack the intellectual capacity to be worth engaging in any kind of debate, much less an honest one. And you are an absolutely abhorrent person in addition to that. So if you don’t want your stupidity repeated to you, then stop spreading it everywhere.

Not exactly, but close. I am sorry that the point of posting the photo was too subtle for you. The hijackers WANTED the US to withdraw from any involvement in the Middle East. It was sarcasm. I will draw you a picture with crayons next time, if that will help.

You have a simpleton's understanding of my view on each of these issues.

If you would like to gain a better understanding of one or more of them through a good-faith exchange of views, pick a topic.

Or you could just continue the dishonest drive-by posts. Your call.
