I felt so good when Trump was elected. I felt like the Reagan 80s were coming back (booming economy, pride in the country etc). We got a small taste of it and it was rejected by many and likely stolen away by a hard left faction within the country. For what purpose though? That’s the greater question that I have. The only answer I can come up with is control. Which scares the hell out of me. Trump threatened a cabal and it took him, and us, out.

I was a kid in those years and those were good years as a kid. Graduated high school in 98. A big root of the issue everywhere is the internet. You have to take the good with the bad when it comes to internet b/c you can't get rid of it. But I think the good will usually be able to find and outsmart the bad regardless of democrat or republic or authority talk

American need an enemy to collectively hate. Right now, the opposing political party is the enemy.

This. The 90's were a downturn of culture and national unity, with sad, depressing music and movies that went more and more over the top with graphic concepts and images. Clintons did work, turning our culture to filth while selling our country to China.

graduated high school in 91 so I got to experience the 80's as a kid & then college in the 90s. The 80's was just an incredible time to be an American. Freedom reigned. Reagan brought the country back both economically & patriotically. People loved America. The Cold War was happening but it was not something that was out in your face daily. It was all behind the scenes. The music & entertainment culture of the 80's was legendary.

Bush took over from Reagan & he did a horrible job causing Perot to run & splitting up the conservative vote so we got Clinton. Once the Clinton's got in everything changed. It was around the same time that grunge hit also. The shift from hair metal to grunge was like a sledgehammer. Fun out, anger in. It was the first time that political correctness was out in the open once the Clinton's took over. Example: Nominating people for jobs just based on race & sex. Watch the 90's movie PCU. It was a comedy then but should now be considered a documentary.

The Clinton's were pure destructive trash & nobody ever talks about the real reason he is now considered a "good president" by the liberal elite & even some conservatives. That reason is hardly anyone had a computer or a cell phone when Bush left office. By the time Clinton left office, most everyone had both. It was pure luck that the Tech boom started during his presidency. It wasn't anything he particularly did. Now big tech is ruling the earth

I graduated high school in 1990 and couldn't agree more! Spot on!

So, the CIA didn’t fly Coke into America during the Iran contra deal? Is that the truth you’re stating?

I graduated high school in 1983. The 80’s, oh how often I think about that decade. It was awesome! My parents would say the early 60’s is when the US peaked. I have heard them say it many times.

I would say 50's-90's in general. Some unrest in the 60's, an economic downturn in the 70's, but all of those decades were better than today, no doubt.

80-88 was the peak of our nation. Bush started the decline by beginning the never ending wars against brown people over oil. We were lied to and manipulated by both parties whose only real objective is power and self enrichment.

Trump was a breath of fresh air but look how that turned out. They destroyed his presidency and now we have an Alzheimer’s patient in the Oval Office.

Thee is no way to fix this now.

You need to watch the movie Cocaine Cowboys about south Fl. in the '80's. Reagan shut down the south Florida banks where money was being laundered. He tried to set up a check point coming in and out of the Keys ruled unconstitutional.
