Not only that. but the chart you showed makes it very clear that technological advances are the reason for the increased productivity over the time frame of the chart.
Because while we were exporting manufacturing during the late 80s and all through the 90s and early 2000s, the productivity was skyrocketing.
This metric isn't about "bringing back manufacturing jobs."

You should have known this chart was propaganda based on the colors.
For example the 2024 numbers show a positive number, but they still keep it blue.
Another hint is the scale, which is extremely small and allows small differences to appear much larger.
Unless you like sources that want to manipulate you, then it's great.

Where is the good news? It's propaganda on the same level as climate crisis propagandists making everything red on weather maps.
Only stupid people think it has meaning.

You can thank Trump’s America First tariffs.

I understand perfectly. American manufacturing output and productivity drastically increased the past year thanks to President Trump’s tariffs.

More domestic manufacturing leads to greater productivity. This isn’t a hard concept.

Explain it for us, then.
If anything tariffs are specifically designed to increase employment by reducing productivity via artificially increasing input costs above market prices.

As someone pointed out earlier this is more about advances in technology and not manufacturing jobs or even total manufacturing
Think of Us manufacturing labor productivity = efficiency
It does not necessarily mean increase in total manufacturing capacity or increase in manufacturing jobs. It doesn't mean that those things didn't happen either.
It sort of helps to understand what words actually mean. Tariffs had nothing to do with this incremental increase and it's beyond absurd to pretend that they did.

Funny that most people don't know what this indicates. Labor productivity is calculated as such: production out-put (units) divided by labor hours. The US lost 80,000 - 100,000 manufacturing jobs in 2025. There were less labor hours dedicated to manufacturing. Some of this is due to AI, but most of this was due to a slowing of business.

Manufacturing is booming right now in the United States. I have never seen anything like it in my lifetime. Most of the perpetually online like yourself are removed from the actual economy.

And yet that isn’t happening. Instead the tariffs are allowing domestic companies to compete and expand now that President Trump has prevented dumping of cheaply made foreign manufactured goods into our markets.

Productivity is still tied to output. Output has increased because we are now onshoring manufacturing.

You have severe TDS. You were spamming this Board a year ago with nonsense when the tariffs went into effect.

You can get away with having to participate in the actual economy by being online?
Tell me more, I'd like some free groceries and shite.
