Mostly.
Do I think they like to skew data?
Sure. 0-19 gun deaths. Covid hospitalizations. Vaccine efficacy. Etc etc etc.
But the numbers are usually real. What they mean is up for debate as we are doing here.

The distribution of Narcan exploded in 2023 when it was classified as OTC by Food and Drug. Wouldnt that have an impact on the reduction of "deaths"?
Its akin to saying Venezuelans lost on average over 20lbs due to healthier eating habits. Nah its cause they are friggin hungry.

That's a definite contributor that may be more difficult to quantify. Also, we have seen a big increase in seizures at the border and tightening down on precursor ingredients. Both of those lead to a marked decrease in both fentanyl powder and pill potency. These efforts began to show up in 2021 when seizures at the border began to skyrocket, culminating in the 2023 peak. The approach which began in 2020 lead to markedly "weaker" fentanyl making it to the street level. Add in the increased pressure on china and the chemical companies in their country that began under Biden and has continued with Trump 2.0 and you begin to get the picture of how we've managed to stem the flood of fentanyl-related OD deaths in the country.
