Socialized losses, privatized gains. The rich get richer by taking risks and then get golden parachutes as the poor pay the bills for their recklessness.

I would need to see what the proposal is on this. Are we talking about an actual ownership stake where the government runs it, or we talking about "ownership" in the same way the average stockholder "owns" a company? If it's simply taking ownership for long enough to sell it to another airline, I'd be okay with that.

No such thing as free markets or small government anymore. Companies aren't allowed to fail. Our national debt is equal to 100% of GDP and climbing. All these political clowns know is more debt. Print dollars till they're completely worthless.

unbelievably frustrating..

Worth it to keep the trash off the other airlines. MMA should buy it though since it’s known for fights and drunks.

Didn't the government block the simplest solution of Spirit merging with Frontier?

Amtrak sells hamburgers in the cafe coach for $12, but it costs us $80 for the union to make them.

No you don't. Government should not be bailing out failed companies.

It's not the Airline that's worth anything, most of the aircraft are leased, it's the leases that they hold on gates and slots.

I will need a cup of Coke and a snack from Spirit on the house if my tax dollars bail them out.

Buy them and use them for deportations.

Why would the federal government even consider this?

If you have been paying attention, we have bought interests in a number of companies this last year or so, including Intel. It is a little unprecedented.

Can we own them and police their flights a little more?

How about a dress code?
