Kevin is seated alone. Is this the time that Matt and Kevin goes into the Speakers conference room alone?
He has to give Gaetz some big tech accountability concession, no? and swallow?

I can see Gaetz, Boebert, and others threaten to leave the GOP to go Independent which would really cause a hornets nest.

So if he doesn’t come through with everything maybe the 20 all flip back to someone else? Perhaps they prearranged this to get him close and then go in a room to get it officially and then all vote for him. And if he doesn’t they all vote against next round?
Regardless, we need to keep fighting. Problem is reps are not listening to us.

I’ve got 432 voting. He needs 217, right?

Yep. A few of the switches said that due to negotiations in good faith they were flipping.

After ROUND 12 vote, 7 GOP McCarthy dissenters:
Andy Biggs-AZ (Jim Jordan)
Lauren Boebert-CO (Kevin Hern)
Eli Crane-AZ (Kevin Hern)
Matt Gaetz-FL (Jim Jordan)
Bob Good-VA (Jim Jordan)
Andy Harris-MD (Jim Jordan)
Matt Rosendale-MT (Kevin Hern)
McCarthy can only lose 4 votes and still become SOTH.

I believe what is confusing is McCarthy should be at 215 instead of 214. I think a McCarthy vote is currently missing to get him to 215.
So of the 7 strong, McCarthy needs 3 to get to 218 once the missing vote shows up.

Gotcha. Short a voter lowers it one.
Posted on 1/6/23 at 12:24 pm to OU Guy
All of them said they are voting with ongoing negotiations in mind. Could change back I guess

Just a matter of time - Speaker McCarthy

Right. 431 votes. 216 gets it done
Posted on 1/6/23 at 12:26 pm to GumboPot
If everyone votes there’s only 434 instead of the should be 435. There’s currently a vacant seat.

I hope they have it in writing and notarized. Even then, it probably isn't worth the paper it is written on.
McCarthy is a snake.

Now it looks like 431 voting. So he’d need 216.

The various iterations of comments such as, “with faith in my colleagues” strike me as disingenuous.
These congressmen aren’t there to show faith in their colleagues; they’re there to represent their constituents.
