Unpopular opinion: the religious right got us where we are today.

I think the hard line stance of the religious right of the 1980s and earlier spawned the left of today. These people were flipping out about everything, from music, to video games, to movies, to you name it. If you were there, you know what I'm talking about.
All of this fanaticism essentially caused a "cultural rebellion". The current left grew up rejected and despising this. Angered by all the over reactive bullshite, televangelists, Phil Donahues, etc. they decided to take up the opposite side. They embraced everything these people attacked. If it has a stimga, like gays or pornography or whatever - they embraced it. That's why you have all these tranny teachers trying to tell 5 year olds about being non-binary today.
Of course, the ball bounces back and forth with culture, so the current left is now driving people to the right / Trump. So, it is what it is.

Both conservatives and the relgious right are to blame
And they cant handle that it took a Dem to fix it for them or at least try and show them

Let me guess, it was all overblown "satanic panic," right? Nothing based on reality.
And now it turns out it is all satanic pedophiles out there in hollywood, video games, music, etc.

Do you expect me to apologize for having morals or something?

I don't think it's controversial to say that there was a reaction to the Christian Coalition era that pushed the culture to a place of complete confusion and collapse.
But I don't blame the religious right for the left's decision to abandon everything honest, wholesome, etc.
Now, on a Christian level, plenty of Christians or people claiming to be have alienated and pushed people away from the faith, so that is something we're accountable for. But I view that separately from politics and the effort to conform politics to a Christian ethic.

You can do what you want but we expect you to stop crying about the results due to your "morals"

There's two of them now. Him and the guy right below him who agreed with him.

How far left does the right have to move to be considered “acceptable”?
Full throated support for 10 year olds getting sex change operations?
I mean we’re pretty much there.

The record of history is clear. Leftist ALWAYS move left, and do so with ever-intensifying speed and resolve.
This was inevitable

They embraced what the conservative propaganda was against. Even though people were listening to KISS you didn't have the volume of young people covering their chest and neck with satanic tattoos then. All of that is a cultural response, a thumbing the nose at what came before. An intentional middle finger to the religious right.

I don't like what you have to say but there is some truth to it. It's bigger than what you proclaim, though. I blame it on Carl Rove and pandering to the religious right to vote for W. They've been interwoven with the Republican party ever since. That's what started the left's backlash against the right and all things religious.
I don't remember being this anti- religion in the eighties or nineties. People who didn't have faith were more respectful of religion. Not any more.

Um...that spearhead in the 80s was the guy that claims to have invented the interwebs and made "global warming" a thing.....and they are on the left. Always have been.
