Unpopular opinion: Putin has a legitimate gripe

We lost our shite when the Soviets started to park nukes in Cuba. Took the world to the brink of all out war.
Now, we have basically pushed the primary anti-Soviet/Russian multinational organization to every border Russia has on their western side, and Ukraine is getting ready to join.
Put a different way, what would be our reaction if Putin signed a NATO-like treaty with Mexico and started deploying his military along our souther border?
I am not at all saying this justifies invading Ukraine, but it's not unreasonable for him to be pretty chuffed about all this.
Full disclosure: I have a boy that will be active duty in about 17 months, and I am not at all on board with him being in the middle of all this.

Russia, Iran and Cuba all have legit gripes with us. Hell, most governments on the planet do. Especially the people in the countries that we have meddled a lot in. They suffer our bullshite on top of being ruled by tyrants.

It’s a fair observation and one I have discussed with friends. It’s not exactly the Cuban missile crisis but the lack of discussion about the NATO side of all of this is telling.

Fine. Doesn't mean we have to accept them and all the risks it entails.
Again, what would be your reaction to Russia doing the same thing along our Mexican border?

IMO this is not really about weapons at the border or Ukraine joining the NATO alliance. That's what they want you to think. This is a globalists' take down of the West and to shift the power structure over to China/ Russia. They are all working together including the US. They have decided the US reign of power since WW2 is over and the empire needs to be destroyed in order for them to institute a China based new world order control enslavement system. Democracy or the perception of freedom needs to be neutralized and obliterated so they can swoop in and save the planet. They always create the problem and offer a solution.

Unpopular opinion: Taiwan is part of China and is a faction that lost in the last great Chinese Civil war. Only reason they are still around is because they fled to an Island and fortified it while China was getting it's shite together after the Japanese invasion in WW2 and after their communist civil war

Reasonable take, but seems like one of those things where it could have all been defused if we could have found a way for the mainland to just say “screw it” 70 years ago.
