And lying to the SEC and investors to drive the stock price up. Sounds pretty fraudulent to me.
That would be a big deal. Would be extremely unusual to get a pass for knowingly lying on an SEC filing.

If Elon buys Twitter, it will probably be at a much lower price, great it gets cleaned up. Progs melt. WIN
If Elon backs out, Twitter stock tanks and Twitter folds. Progs melt. WIN
Either way we all win

I think he wanted to publicly burn it to the ground and he’s going to accomplish that. What would the sky screamers do if he destroyed it then jumps in with Trump Media?

I’m starting to wonder whether he ever wanted to buy it either or if his goal was really to expose the political bias in their censorship and the high number of bots to torpedo Twitter’s value to advertisers and their stock price
That guy's gonna pretty much ALWAYS be the smartest guy in the room.
Anyone who doesn't think that he already knew the bot fraud was there is running a couple of laps behind!
He's either gonna buy it at an extremely reduced price, or let the company implode in disgrace and/or bankruptcy.
Like another poster said, "Musk, unlike other billionaires, doesn't just have 'frick you money'. He's got 'frick ME money'!...he can afford to throw TEN DIGIT amounts of money at something he cares about, and not look back!

I mean, why not just make his own social media platform that better follows his values. With his wealth and influence he could easily popularize such a venture and for presumably large factors cheaper.
Because he is a kid in the candy store and this is the candy he wants.
Sometimes it's that simple.
IMO his ultimate motivation is to expose the Twitter/NSA/CIA connection. He is fricking with federal government spying agencies.

He has to pay $1 billion if he backs out, so it will be quite the expensive publicity stunt. Also, Tesla stock has dropped a ton due to all of this crap by him causing him to lose a ton more of his wealth.

Not if it is due to Twitter violating one of the warranties or representations….like that their sec filings were accurate.

I’m sure he had clauses/clarifications galore in his buyout contract. My real question is, is there any way for twitter to find out how many bot accounts there actually are? If not, I don’t think he had any true intentions of buying. Just mainly wanted to expose the fraud.

I doubt it which is why they do small samples probably because there is investigation of some sort to find out an alleged bot.
I have no doubts we have some bots on this site, but it isn't an easy task for the owner to just click a button to say the number of bots on the site. I think that is where this fails. Musk is trying to play a PR game in the public which is strange.
My guess is he leaves and has to pay the billion. He may try not to, but will be sued by Twitter. He may be sued by Twitter anyway since I don't think he had any intentions of actually buying the site and all of this could be seen as market manipulation.

Wherever they go, I hope they remain in a large, obvious group like they do on twatter. It would suck if they disperse into the wild.

Yes, there are lots of ways to identify bot posts and bot accounts.
For instance, user data can be filtered to show accounts with randomized log in/posting data that does not match what an "average" user is shown to be. Bots are often programmed to post at the same time every day, flag. Bots are programmed to post at random times to avoid detection, also a flag. Repeated posting of the same content, flag. User names ending in a string of numbers, flag. Account set up, but doesn't log in for more than 3 months, flag. Multiple accounts from the same IP, flag. etc etc etc

Now, he’s got all the right wingers drooling over him. His next move will be to gain the support of progressives. Watch.

Has it been established that Twitter made representations about “bots” in prior SEC filings?
Anyone know the numbers?
