I was thinking it was Okinawa but wasn’t sure. I watched a documentary once on the history channel and it was showing that video. Bodies were littered at the bottom of the cliffs. It was gruesome. Woman would throw babies off the cliff and then jump themselves.

Harry Rex Vonner does not believe this, but it be true.
We dropped the bombs to avoid having to invade and fight on the Japanese mainland where they were teaching women and kids to kill Americans with spears or whatever weapon.
HRV needs to read With The Old Breed which is what the mini-series The Pacific was based on.

Yeah they were estimating that we could lose like a million+ soldiers I think it was in the invasion of mainland Japan. These populations were lied to and radicalized that it would have been a horrific body count on both our side and to the civilian side that they decided to drop the bomb. Videos like I mentioned earlier probably served to reinforce the decision. It’s terrible to say but dropping the bombs probably saved a lot of lives.

I’m reading this book now. Amazing read. I recently finished “Helmet for my Pillow” by Robert Leckie which was also part of the script for The Pacific mini-series.
