Trump's position for the 2020 election will be incredibly unique and strong

I was just thinking... the left and the Democrats have gone so unprecedentedly hard in the "Trump will literally end America (and perhaps the world) as we know it. We cannot survive 4 years of Donald Trump as President" direction that it will hold zero sway in the future.

If in 2019 our economy is up another 10%, unemployment is ideal, salaries are growing for the first time in decades, and morale is up like it was under Reagan; the Democrats will not have an answer.

I feel like there would be a huge migration of moderate voters who believed all the scare tactics in 2016 but who would say "well that has been proven factually wrong. I may not like Trump, but he's interesting and smart and independent. I am okay with that. The Democrats said this would be an unmitigated disaster, and instead I am as optimistic about America as I've been since I was much younger."

It won't be easy for him to be re-elected because of the massive media effort to delegitimize him. The GOP doesn't strongly support him.

Finally, don't forget Mueller's mission to do whatever it takes to find dirt on Trump. Mueller's investigation will prove to be the most massive, intrusive and wide-ranging investigation ever done on any POTUS. Mueller is using the same prosecutorial tactics that are used against Mob Bosses. Mueller will be investigating things that happened TEN years ago. Mueller is threatening people with indictment in an effort to get them to testify against Trump. Mueller has no time limit and he has no limit to his monetary resources and funding.

Mueller's team will find some dirt. It is inevitable.

Don't forget that some of Mueller's team worked on the
Enron prosecutions. MOST of those convictions were Overturned on appeal. BUT, if the same thing happens to Trump, the 2020 election will be far in the past by the time a hypothetical Trump conviction is overturned.

I don't like these kinds of FedGov prosecutorial tactics because they aren't aimed at Justice, they are aimed at maximum punishment of a target that they want to destroy.

I hope that Mueller can be the outstanding person and attorney that he is known to be. He's too fine a person to allow any partisanship to influence his good judgment.

But, Trump won't have an easy time getting re-elected due to this massive and unprecedented effort to wreck his Presidency.

I'll believe it the day he announces it. I think he proved he could win, he'll serve his term and go back to making money. I don't think he wants to put it off until he's 78 years old. Those are probably the last years he has before age starts to slow him down. I just don't see him staying locked into politics, controversies and DC bullshite for another 4 year term when he can do what every former president does and rake in millions off their public service.

Are you implying that you are smarter than Trump. Show your accomplishments. I'm sure the world is waiting.

2020 will come down to what happens with North Korea and if we hit sustained 3% growth. If both of those go Trump's way he will win in a landslide.

Bookmark it. If he runs, he wins and easily. NY and CA can vote all they want to run up the popular vote, but only have limited (and known) impact on the electoral college. Winning!

MAGA, you liberal/progressives. Melt away.

I will never understand this line of thinking. You're basically saying frick our election process. Find your side a good candidate and run on ideas in 2020. The left can't do that because all of their ideas suck goat arse. So they call the other side names and hope they stick. When your entire platform is smear the other side, you cheat like hell and still can't win you need to be doing some serious self examination. Do we see the left doing any of this? Nope, it's just more violent howling and knashing. It's actually wonderful watching them self destruct. Maybe they can be reborn into something that resembles a party for the people. The biggest favor a left leaning person could do for the democrats is abandon them for now.

Hilldawg will run again. It was her turn. She will start her campaign tour at Costco right between the kitty litter and toilet paper. She's ready this time. No more mini strokes. Just passion and her testicular fortitude leading the charge. Watch out, cause the Trump train will be derailed.

No it won't.

Hot take. Under these conditions, who doesn't get re-elected?

Another 10%? The economy is expected to grow at an annualized rate of about 2.6% this year.

Trump's been worse by just about every measure imaginable than even those of us who were disgusted by his campaign thought possible. His approval rating over the first 8 months of his presidency has hovered between the mid-high 30s and low 40s--unprecedented for a new admin. He has no major legislative accomplishments to date, and the only one that he might notch this FY is a turd sandwich that everyone knows is just a Hail Mary to demonstrate that he got something done and that the GOP wasn't just dicking around about repealing Obamacare these last 8 years. And let's face it, his spinning carousel of an WH was a train wreck until this guy with whom he apparently shares a reciprocal hatred, came in and brought some semblance of order.

A lot of people who didn't take his candidacy seriously are going to work hard to get this man the hell out of Washington if he decides to stand in another election. Hell I'll take a sabbatical from my job and work for free.

And interesting, smart, and independent?
