Sounds expensive.

Good luck with that bro.

I agree but emotions are far more motivating than economic theory when it comes to voting unfortunately

When it comes to voting, absolutely.

But to rule, you have to have sound policy or you will fail quickly.

So when trump was touting the stock market in the run up to 2019, was he a globalist corporate stooge?… or just a another grifter politician?

That was Trump being a politician.

A POTUS and their administration will generally take credit for the economy and markets when times are good.

I do blame the automaker’s leadership. They are not forced to accept union demands. I have worked in this area and will tell you that weak leadership of large corporations is the main problem when it comes to bad union contracts.

I point you to the one before. The morons don’t vote based on what they think but on what they feel. Times are good? The incumbent gets their vote; times are bad? Vote him out!

“I am not referring to tariffs. I am referring to the reaction to spending cuts and government layoffs.”

I gotcha. Regarding the spending restraint, I agree that it’s welcome, but sooner or later, someone has to be brave enough to say that none of it matters if we don’t do something about entitlements, especially SS, Medicare, and Medicaid, because they’re driving the debt.

They did two things in the 90s
- killed American inner cities and rural America by offshoring manufacturing jobs to foreign countries to ship goods back to the U.S. to sale and made those people dependent on government welfare to survive.
- told everyone they needed a college degree and that there was no future in blue collar work.
- started the trickle of illegals to take jobs and put manual workers on welfare to make them dependent on government

Isn't that 3 things?

What's wrong with innovation favoring the service economy while also increasing manufacturing output in real dollars. OK so manufacturing as a percentage of GDP in down, but services are up, so the displacement favors IT and knowledge based industries including biomedical, etc along with IT?

Most Americans are economically illiterate

As a person who’s spent 18 years in school and currently taking an MBA level economics course I can emphatically state the accuracy of this statement. I had absolutely no idea how little I knew. I’m not going to pretend that it’s not important to understand geometry, but the fact we aren’t teaching basic supply and demand is a disgrace

Or they sinply see stuff getting more expensive
All around d them while simultaneously seeing people at the top doing well and they want to lash out and make those people pay.

There simply aren’t enough people who really understand these things.

Most Americans are economically illiterate and truly believe we can just keep spending without any consequences indefinitely

They’ve spent their entire lives within that paradigm and being told by the expert class that it’s normal and to be expected.

It’s not sustainable. It’s a Ponzi scheme with a shelf life that’s almost up without massive changes as Trump is proposing.

It’s this or a reset, there really isn’t a third option IMO.
