To my knowledge, and I’d have to do more research to be sure, we have 2 Marine Expeditionary Units in the area. That’s 2 battalions of Marines with various support elements like F-35s, helicopters and amphibious landing vehicles. I’m also pretty sure there are some forward deployed paratroopers from the 82nd and air assault elements from the 101st. Not to mention whatever SOF assets are in place. Not enough for a full scale invasion of course but enough to take Kharg Island, or my preference, some of the smaller islands in the strait of Hormuz.
