That didn't take long.
Market rallying on the news.
Jay Powell speaks in a few minutes so he could obviously move the market.
CNBC
EDIT: Powell sounding hawkish & market is heading south again.

Vietnam has the most to lose here since they started siphoning off some of the apparel industry from China with the Trump 1.0 tariffs. This is good news for American apparel brands as well.

More deals will be made over the weekend is my guess
If so, markets rip Monday

MSM and leftist will be really mad whenever this Trump shakeup causes favorable American trade & new trading partners instead of high inflation

Backdoor for Chinese to circumvent the US Tariffs has opened. They have been using Vietnam as a middleman to do this for a while, now there will probably be massive amounts of final product assembly or simply packaging of Chinese goods there.

Why are we negotiating? If the purpose of this is to bring manufacturing back to the US, won't negotiating a new tariff deal keep manufacturing jobs in Vietnam? Was Trump lying when he said he wanted to bring manufacturing back to the US?

Powell is defiant, he needs to be fired

He's not a part of the executive branch, right?

Prominent global brands, including Apple, Samsung, Nike, Adidas, LG, Foxconn, and others, have chosen to relocate their manufacturing facilities from China to Vietnam.
Impact of the US-China Trade War
The US-China trade war imposed substantial tariffs on Chinese goods, making it less cost-effective to manufacture in China.
In contrast, importing Vietnamese products remained relatively hassle-free, further incentivizing companies to move production to Vietnam.
As a result, Vietnam experienced a substantial annual increase in exports to the US, with growth rates ranging from 20% to 30%.
Expansion of High-Tech Manufacturing
The technology sector is increasingly embracing Vietnam as a production hub, complementing their operations in China.
For instance, Apple has started producing AirPods in Vietnam to reduce import costs from China.
Samsung has also relocated one of its Chinese factories to Vietnam, leading to a 300% increase in electronics production. LINK

Good because Vietnam will manufacture them rather than us?
Or good for the US consumer because prices will remain low?
Or good because tariffs may go away and the belief is that American companies will now gain market share in Vietnam by exporting higher cost US made goods to a country without the disposable income to afford our exports?

Foxconn and Samsung have manufacturing in Vietnam now.

Yes. Not everything needs to be made here. It would be good for both the United States and Vietnam for those companies to continue operating in Vietnam.

It's funny that the only countries losing their mind and are not negotiating but are crying to the media are the Euro countries and Canada. Meanwhile, asian, latin america, eastern europe are all coming to the table right away, to negotiate.
It's almost, as if the media is ignoring people of color and just focusing on the outrage from the whiteys of the world... The irony.
PS - After a few weeks of spreading their news propaganda, ALL COUNTRIES will come to the table to negotiate. This is purely theater.

It might also be good news that China is one of the only major trade partners retaliating

100% agreement with you.
Apparel isn’t something we’re going to be competitive with and it isn’t vital to our security. Medicines, medical equipment, computer chips… things of a more serious nature need to be here.
I’d have like to have seen us be a little more targeted with the tariffs.

Vietnam will still make your clothes.
We aren't trying to bring textiles here.
We are trying to build more cars, appliance, batteries, etc.
BTW. You can't complain about tariffs then come back and complain when tariffs are then renegotiated.
