I'm still waiting for one of the usual suspects to reply and say "I voted for this!"

So you’re saying it’s a bad thing to save 18k jobs?

Wow. You leftists are truly deranged. Most people don’t sit on their arse all day collecting unemployment like you libs. These are people’s livelihood Trump is trying to save.

If someone else in the private sector wants to buy Spirit and bet on the price of oil going down, I'm all for it. I'm not nor have ever been a proponent of government being in business for itself and controlling a business in the private sector.

You national spopulists are economically naive at best. Extremely ignorant in general.

The problem is the government should have let them and JetBlue merge. Instead the bigger airlines pulled and bought off congress and senate and blocked it.

Stay out of mergers that still would not hit top 3 airlines....

Why would we save "Ghetto Airlines"? What would be the point?

If anything we should be getting rid of these discount airlines and discourage the riff raff from flying.

Dress codes on airlines should be enforced like they were back in the day.

So the U.S., trillions in debt. is buying out an airline deep in debt? Ridiculous.

This smacks of socialism.

Only if you can't grasp the concept of selling goods for a profit.

Like I've said before, you "conservatives" hate the government generating any revenue that isn't stolen from labor.

You are very correct, but like you said, few here seem to actually grasp what socialism actually is or how it exerts power. A socialist government would not buy it or loan money, it would just take it over. Then the government would say that they are going to cover operation costs but have the airline give free or greatly reduced prices. However, the government would prioritize it's on travel, for free, and then with any excess bandwidth, provide flights at reduced prices, probably with little to no customer service, either in flight or before, for the general public, maybe in a lottery system. Then, over time, members of the party will complain that there isn't enough flights, so the government will greatly expand the size and costs of the fleet to provide more routes, all while Joe B Taxpayer pays the bill. Oh and before that expansion, party members in the know will form small companies to support the government airline, either with leasing more aircraft to the government, (probably purchased from a fleet of soon to be retired airplanes at a deep discount but leased at 1000% profit in year one) or something like a company to supply "mechanics" who are also loyal party members, at rates near or above market value.

Horrible idea.

If Trump is offering to purchase it, there will probably be others who try just so he can't.

Agreed. If you want to get in some fancy plane you need to at least be in business casual.

These low-life losers going to the airport in their pajamas are a disgrace.

Maybe you’re finally seeing the real Trump. He’s always been a phony.
I hate to say I told you so. I really do…

It it’s “profitable” there’s zero reason for the government to own it. If the government is taking over companies to siphon off their profits… well there a word for that.

Literally nothing in our constitution nor founding are based on the government making profits for itself.

TIL the government acting like Gordon Gecko with Bluestar airlines is free market capitalism.

Trump’s not offering to purchase it. He’s asking the government to do so. Big difference
