Maybe, but Trump was exposing them for what they really were, on Twitter. The result was them sand bagging him on the ACA legislation. I recall them saying as much at the time. They hated him for it.

Trump really does have Narcissistic Personality Disorder. Just like the haters have always claimed. Doesn't mean I don't hope he wins the election—I do—but it's true and has been obvious since 2016.
People with personality disorders like that are compelled to act in certain ways depending upon the nature of the disorder. Even to their obvious detriment.
For example, people with psychopathy are compelled to lie even when telling the truth would make things easier for them. They are incapable of considering how their current actions will affect them in the future...even the near future. They have to be in control—the famous case of Ted Bundy is a classic example. Bundy's lawyers had a deal worked out for him to avoid the death penalty, but that would have ended the trial and he wouldn't have been able to be his own attorney. That was so important to him that he refused the deal and went to the electric chair.
Trump is clearly compelled to do and say the things he does like this even though any reasonable person wouldn't.
Again, this is not meant as a criticism. It's an observation only. I hope trump wins. But he is clearly what they have always said he was. Just look up a list of characteristics of a person with NPD.
