God the grammar here is horrifying. You have to be a special level of stupid to think this man is smart.

This sounds probable whether I like it or not.

My favorite part of all of this is that the detractors use social media (DATA!!) to complain about data centers. Don’t tell anyone else, but…we already have thousands of data centers!

It really is stupid when you put it like that.

If people are against data centers, then they should stop using the internet and stop buying stock in tech companies.

But they won't. They don't want to change. They want to force others to change. Much like all the people crying about climate change.

There really is a pandemic in modern society where people complain, refuse to take action themselves, and then demand everyone else to cater to them.

Terrible argument. I’m not trying to insult you. But that’s not a good argument.

Data didn't exist before 15 acre server warehouses were built near rural population centers. Arguement seems grounded in reality to me.

Water use concerns me but I will listen to pros & cons fairly & logically

Water consumption is largely sent back into the system, not used and dumped. It's used for water cooling systems for the servers.

My only concern is where they are built. So long as they are in areas where other industrial buildings reside, and far enough away from causing residential noise etc, I'm good.

I want Data to reside here, not overseas where it it more easily hacked.

I was using the internet long before Meta needed a 2400 acre data center in Richland parish

Maybe if people would quit making ai videos and 24/7 government surveillance through Flock cameras, we wouldn't need so many data centers

I’m team Data Center. Unfortunately, now that Trump has boldly expressed his opinion, support is now capped at 50%. Big Tech has done a TERRIBLE job of explaining how and why data centers operate and their necessity moving forward. Data centers are forever lumped in with microplastics, aluminum cookware, GMO foods, climate change, blah, blah. What we have to realize is this is a religion to the Leftist. Is it possible to talk a Catholic into Protestantism or vice versa, yes, but rarely. Bold actions are required and unfortunately, Congress is gutless.

The problem is that we only need the amount of compute we’re building if they want to make a minority report style surveillance state. Businesses are already questioning what AI costs would look like without investment based subsidization. Not enough general consumers seem to like AI. I just don’t see these data centers going to use. We’re doing a China building roads and cities to nowhere.

China can believe it is happening, because they are causing and funding the fake outrage.

I'm all for the NVIDIA model which hooks up GPUs to people's homes and pays them for the space/energy use.

Building open-sourced models that are compute efficient and can be run on local hardware, as opposed to building proprietary models that have to run on their private machines so users cannot see the code that's doing the work.

Ok so it sounds like China is not building giant data centers then…
