Presidents do not make laws, that's the job of congress. At best the president can do things to carry out those laws etc, and/or direct the executive branch agencies to do things.
He didn't force the NCAA to do anything or change any laws, they can still violate these new guidelines without penalty of law. They just lose federal funding if they do, for now.
I agree that this needs to go through Congress in conjunction with the NCAA to become actual law, this at least puts pressure on the situation in the meantime to get that done

I don't particularly like the way it was done, but it's something we all agree needs to happen to save the sport we love and why 99% of us began posting here to begin with
I would say the same whether it be a D or R behind it. SOMETHING needs to be done but Congress and the NCAA are both toothless and ineffectual at their jobs

Maybe it will be like the EPA where first it was an EO, but then congress ratified it and made it law.
However, if it ends in a government agency regulating college sports, then that's going to be bad overall. IMO, government/courts getting involved is why shite is fricked up to start with.
But these rules specifically are a good.

Hopefully, when CFB sees how most people want this, they'll fall in line. I think he should have changed the transfer rule back to what it was, like the NCAA said it would do when covid ended, but I'll take what I can get.

At some point if Congress can't get shite done, and the President does something that most Americans even the other party agree with, I don't see the issue here?
If a Dem did this, I would still agree with order? I don't disagree with everything Dems want just because they are Dems.
I also agree this is far from the preferred method. But again, why are we waiting on the worthless congress?

Exactly. Unlimited NIL is killing college sports. It needed guardrails and POTUS gave them some. And the conferences are grateful.

This is true, but Alston was bullshite.
If the NCAA is really a "monopoly," then the term has lost all relevant meaning.

I think you mean "God forbid a young athlete do what they imagine is in their best interest."
I think an extensive analysis would show that the constant transferring improving an athlete's position in any way is rare. It happens, but rarely.
It certainly is nothing but disruptive to them actually finishing a degree program.
And they are supposed to be "student-athletes," right?
