Trumps also regulating an individual's freedom to earn an income (the athletes themselves).
Again, another E. Order that will get struck down by the courts

It does not address the money. NIL money is skewing the landscape right now.

This is basicly what everyone does, every day you draw breath.

The government needs to stay out of sports, just like it need to stay out of every facit of privite business, let the markets dictate how college sports operates, if viewership declines it will adjust, but there is nothing needing to be saved here, viewership is soaring. My guess is that Trump is just tring to improve his low apporval rating.

I support this measure, but surely this will be challenged immediately, correct?

Executive order doesn’t mean snuff. This will be tied up in courts for years.

Then you certainly don’t care for Trump. He has no use whatsoever for the United States Constitution.

One of the issues driving NIL was unlimited transfers without having to sit out a year. NIL deals weren’t worth the paper they were written on, and players would just transfer and renegotiate mid season. Reducing the potential number of transfers massively cuts down on the nonsense.

A. People think this will actually do anything

Agreed, something definitely needs to be done to help CFB but not by executive order

B. That Trump thinks this is a good use of his time

Meh, He cares about the cfb game and although I don’t like the EO, maybe it will motivate the right people to make something legit happen.

And we have regulations and safeguards to keep them from doing certain things all the time too.

Especially when they are younger than 21.

I don't disagree with the premise that we ought to have more responsibility and freedom and that the government is too protective, but that's not even really how I see this, I'm just countering the argument you started with.

This is a labor-mangement dispute.

The owners have an interest in keeping the league competitive and stable and they ought to have the ability to put rules in place to do so, just like they do in the pros. And if the players have a right for the government to not intervene, so do the owners.

We had a system in which both sides were agreeing to participate voluntarily, and then the government stepped in and said, no, you guys can't agree on a contract here. Unfortunately, the government is what stopped the owners from being able to do what was in the overall sport's best interest originally, so it's going to take the government to remedy the situation.

This is right up there with renaming the Gulf. I’m glad he’s digging into the important things!
