never fails to be an idiotic comment

The U.S. government literally has hundreds of thousands of employees. That is enough to multitask.

Here's a compromise...

Another recently introduced bill, the Daylight Act of 2026, would make half-daylight saving time permanent. Under this legislation, our clocks would jump forward a half-hour, instead of a whole hour, and lock there. It remains in the House Energy and Commerce Committee.

The current system is perfectly fine.

We really want an 8am sunrise in the New Orleans metro in January?

This. Trump is definitely doing this to help his golf clubs though.

Later sunrise is awful. I’m happy with 6-6:30 sunrise. At 8pm sunset.

We are going with the far more popular alternative, Saving Daylight, which gives you a longer, brighter Day — And who can be against that — This is an easy one!" the president declared.

He's doing it for his golf industry, b/c you don't save jack shite. The idiot golfers and guys that claim they want to cut their grass in the dead of winter will eat this shite up. They don't realize it will be dark at 8 a.m. in Jan and February. Just deal with the season. Hopefully it won't pass, it's ridiculous.

They’ve been playing with this for years and never pull the trigger. Do it!

I thought they did it before but lasted one year because of kids getting hit in the morning when it’s dark waiting on the bus

Yes. If we switch to one Time, it should be the one when the sun is highest in the sky at noon ... Standard Time

Again?

This has been going on for years now but for some reason it never actually happens.

How?

How is all the shite that will have to get done in the dark, especially school bus pick up.

The other thing no one takes into account is all the trades and jobs that typically start at daylight, not before, like construction and all ancillary business to it, trash pick-up, etc. By delaying those early bird workers it will place them on the same commute as those who work 8 or 9 to 5. Both to and from.

Not that I give a shite, but it will absolutely negatively impact rush hours during the winter. FAFO.

Crime is lower when more light is at end of day.

Economic activity increases with daylight after work.

Almost Perfect right now. Daybreak starting at 6am. Sunset just past 8pm.

Can't wait for it to be daybreak at just before 6am and sunset at around 8:30.

I hate it when sunset is just after 5.

should adjust the time zones, too

There are maps that show you where the excess daylight falls and when

Latest sunrise in northern Michigan would be after 9 am.

The problem with locking this down is that some places would need to swap time zones. If we keep DST, Alabama should go to EST. Indiana should go to CST, as should Michigan's upper peninsula.
