I’m sure he wants more than just that. Probably no Ukraine in NATO. But wouldn’t economic and military support from the US financially basically be the same thing as Ukraine being in NATO? I mean, if Trump is going to use financial support for Ukraine as leverage to get Zelensky to agree to give up the territory Russia currently controls, then that means we’re still going to be giving military and financial support to Ukraine, which I don’t think Putin wants.

Oh I have no doubt he will be a “trusted” adviser to Trump in probably more than one key areas. Which isn’t at all unusual to me. Would be much more unusual if he didn’t end up in such an advisory role.
