The bill also includes a section that takes aim at transgender individuals by prohibiting material "that includes a disconnection between biology and gender by an individual of 1 biological sex imitating, depicting, or representing himself or herself to be of the other biological sex."
so mrs doubtfire would be banned?

Do you even Dearborn bro?
Dearbornistan doesn't have enough reach yet. Give it another couple of Democrat Presidents and MI may end up with enough burkas in the legislature to make something like this actually happen.
And then watch the Left fret and fume over how to handle this monster they created.

Not only will it not pass, but would be struck down by the courts if it did.
States have more discretion on regulating obscenity. Obscenity is not protected by the 1st Amendment, and in most places, pornography would be considered obscene.

This will be a thing in the coming years because now you can make homemade porn with a Localized AI Image/Video generator. Politicians with skin in the game will push for the ban to grow an AI market they invested in.
Ya'll understand what this would mean right? No more porn online, no more exposure of fetishes, that door into the human mind will be closed shut. Localized AI have no laws or rules regulating it. Scary to think what would that imply but i can see an ambitious politician pushing for this then defunding the budgets regulating and enforcing online porn laws. Then using all that money to fill their slush funds or pet projects. Then overtime talking of sex will be an even more taboo subject due to lack of exposure anyonen in the political realm would have to appear more pure in thought. It's a bit of a dynamic I would say.

I’m all for it.

I mean they wouldn’t be allowed to show most mainstream movies.
Hollyweird feels the pinch, all the more reason to vote for it.
Hopefully it passes

If I remember correctly the last time SCOTUS addressed porn was to yield in deference to "artistic" merit. In other words as long as the production has some kind of story to it sex is allowed. Kinda explains all the gratuitous sex in everything, comedies, drama, horror, you name it.
So, if the states define "artistic" more conservatively I can see state laws surviving challenges.

God getting rid of porn would be a huge upgrade for this country.
Posted on 9/16/25 at 8:44 am to StringedInstruments
This ban would not affect my life.
Posted on 9/16/25 at 8:58 am to StringedInstruments
you either have to make porn illegal or legalize prostitution. You can't have one without the other.
Posted on 9/16/25 at 9:02 am to StringedInstruments
This is not the way.
Just when I think the GOP has moved past the preening evangelical pandering this guy and Lindsay (with his total abortion ban) yanks it right back.
FTR, I am a church-going Christian man. I just don’t want to be pandered to for it.

For its creation and decimation? Sure

Impossible to ban porn in the digital age.

You think filming sex for money should be a 20 year felony?
That’s more than assault.
More than embezzlement for $1M from a church.
More than most rapes.
On what grounds?

I think the story implied banned "porn" means sex, but not women's nekkid buttholes on reddit. Maybe I am wrong.

I doubt that will be the cause…

We can negotiate on the length.

Prison terms are WAYYYY to low. I agree.

It’s completely destructive to society in numerous ways.

The interesting thing about porn to me is... If you pay a woman for sex, its illegal. But if you pay a woman for sex, video it, and sell it. Its legal.

The GOP held this attitude for half a century and the leftists took it as an opening to turn schools into indoctrination centers and turn the media into a propaganda arm of the DNC
It’s not pandering, it’s fighting back
