Too many people have too much to lose if this proceeds to a formal trial in the senate

More and more I’m becoming convinced that Trump will not be impeached on the basis that while this is all for show in the house, the lies and shady dealings could have very real consequences for a lot of people if they come out in a formal senate trial.
Schiif can prevent any discussion beyond the scope of the hearings now, but you can bet if any of these witnesses are lying or there is anything to the Biden collusion theories it will come out if he is in fact impeached by the House. And of course, the whistleblower will be known and (potentially) crucified with the rest of them.

Not to mention a trial a would be takingkeeping several Senators off the campaign trail leading up to NH. Of course it may give the Democrats running a noble excuse to drop out of the POTUS race.

I concur. No way House holds a vote. Not sure yet how they slip out the back door but it’s become obvious this has no teeth. 6 months of this in the senate will infuriate the American people.

I used to think similar, specifically that Pelosi would eventually "save the day" by coming forward to a microphone at press conference and declare that she and the Congressional Dems are choosing to forego any further impeachment efforts in order to be the ones to heal the country.
Now I'm not so sure. Reason being, very simply, the verbiage they've chosen to parrot, i.e. absolute 100% indisputable foregone conclusion that Trump is guilty. Not so sure they can walk away from that now, as perhaps they could have had they employed the use of terminology such as "alleged" etc. They would have left themselves an out with that, but instead they went full-bore.

I agree with you.
The Dems have way too much to lose by bringing the impeachment trial to the Senate. I’ll say this with the caveat that the Dems actions are rarely logical.

I think her out is going to be that while they are positive he is guilty, they do not want to go forward without the public support of one Republican. She’ll reference her earlier comment about the vote having to be bipartisan, and say that since the Republicans are sticking together despite the overwhelming "proof" of his guilt, she doesn’t think that it will help the country heal by going forward.

The ONLY way the DEMs can salvage any iota of integrity is for Pelosi to call this thing off and censure Schiff, Nadler, et all - remove them from all committees they serve on, and call for their resignation - or vote to kick them out of the chamber.
They will HAVE to take some heads - admit absolute criminal behavior in the "russian collusion" hoax and name names.

No there are no rules they are following now. Even if they get no Rep, they will vote and say the Rep know he is guilty but dont have guts to vote, bla bla. They are not rational, they will say and do anything. How any sane voter can support these loons is beyond me.

The Dems will say we got him. The hearing has shown the country that orange man bad. They will say they have more than enough to impeach him.
BUT
They will say it is less than a year to the election. They will say they have no doubt the people will choose the correct thing. They will use this to denigrate trump.
They will not impeach. They have shown the best they have. It's all nothing.

Or something similarly random.

It could be something else. Maybe Pelosi wants to continue sitting on that footage. There's always other things that could pop up.
