More and more I’m becoming convinced that Trump will not be impeached on the basis that while this is all for show in the house, the lies and shady dealings could have very real consequences for a lot of people if they come out in a formal senate trial.

Schiif can prevent any discussion beyond the scope of the hearings now, but you can bet if any of these witnesses are lying or there is anything to the Biden collusion theories it will come out if he is in fact impeached by the House. And of course, the whistleblower will be known and (potentially) crucified with the rest of them.

I don't disagree with what you're saying here, but the Dems have painted themselves into a corner with this. If they vote to impeach and it goes to trial in the Senate the entire thing could unravel with serious consequences for the Dem collaborators when the defense actually gets a chance to call and cross examine witnesses.

If they don't vote to impeach, their leftist base will literally light themselves on fire before an election, and the dems will be blown out at the ballot box.

It's a no win situation when you've spent the last three decades pandering to 20% of the country.

Dead on.

Couldn't happen to a more deserving bunch of malcontents, either. (The Dems and their voting base).

People aren't giving this President enough credit for running a clean ship, with respect to the ludicrous charges levied against him. Have individuals committed process crimes? Apparently, but it would appear that this WH has a much more solid claim to the 'not a smidgen' of corruption moniker than the last.

Get this to a trial so we can find out everything that was going on in Ukraine.

I was absolutely convinced the Dems would vote to impeach but there is a piece on Rantingly.com that lays this mess over the actual legislative calendar and it looks like it will be difficult.

Apparently Thursday is the end of the line for Schiff. His Committee will write up a report of the evidence and hand it over to Nadler at Judiciary.

Once that happens there needs to be a real vote to begin impeachment by the whole House. Then production of actual Articles of Impeachment and a vote on those.

They make the case that by then it's close to mid December and it lays out all the risk of moving it on to the Senate, the loss of Democrat control of the issue and the Dem primaries starting.

Some sort of a censure from the House full of made up words and shite might be in the offing.

It will be an interesting month for sure.
