Today is the Sentencing for Hannah Dugan

Hannah Dugan's defense asks federal judge for time served
quote:
The defense is asking for a sentence of time served.
The defense also requested that Dugan address the court directly and that brief oral statements be permitted from Janine Geske and Gregory P. O'Meara, S.J.
quote:
The offense stems from events of April 18, 2025, involving Eduardo Flores-Ruiz, a criminal defendant scheduled to appear in the defendant's courtroom and facing charges of assaulting three victims. Federal authorities planned a "low-key, safe arrest" involving six officers inside the courthouse. Prosecutors say the defendant instead worked to help Flores-Ruiz avoid federal agents.
The government points to two statements as evidence of intent: "I'll do it. I'll get the heat," reportedly said in response to a court reporter's offer to show Flores-Ruiz the stairwell door, and "I'm in the doghouse with Carl because I tried to help that guy."
According to the memorandum, the defendant:
*Failed to call the case on the record or notify the three victims, who waited more than an hour and left "upset and confused" after learning it had been adjourned without their involvement.
*Directed a colleague, Judge Kristela Cervera, to keep her robe on and accompany her as "a show of force" when confronting agents, and later used Judge Cervera to occupy officers while the defendant rushed Flores-Ruiz's case.
*Adopted a trial strategy that, prosecutors argue, unfairly portrayed Judge Cervera "as a liar."
The government notes that the planned arrest turned into a foot chase outside the courthouse through moving traffic on N. 10th Street, in poor weather with reduced visibility, endangering Flores-Ruiz, agents, and drivers. Prosecutors concede endangerment "may not have been the defendant's intent" but call the outcome "reasonably foreseeable."
quote:
Federal prosecutors are not explicitly asking for prison time, but noted federal guidelines would range from 15 to 21 months in prison.

If we are to hold judges to higher standards judging, we should hold judges to higher standards in judgment.

Execution... let's set the standard.

If she gets sent to a woman's prison, no way any lesbo hooks up with that.

If this judge does not get prison for this action, our system is messed up.

This is the sort of behavior that outflows from those who see the laws and constitution as a "living document", i.e. the laws mean whatever they want them to mean based entirely on how they feel at any particular moment.
Ultimately they just use their legal positions to enhance their own standing within their "living document" religion, or just progressivism, so they'll either enforce or refuse to enforce the law on their own personal feeling and nothing more.

I don't think it's that at all.
It's more aligned with this:
Some judges think they're literally invincible, especially within their courts.

People put in positions of authority should always serve more time when they break the law. Judges, politicians, etc.

I think she's going to get 90 days to 5 months because of that.

I pray they throw the book at the Judge. They must be held to a much higher standard. Her contempt for the law must be dealt with harshly. A 10 year minimum sentence will send a very clear message to any and all Judges we are supposed to respect and admire.

A federal judge fined her $5,000 and cited her otherwise law-abiding life in issuing the sentence.
“I think this is a situation where an otherwise good person, upset by immigration policies in this country, made a bad decision in the moment,” U.S. District Judge Lynn Adelman said.

I’m assuming this is a felony charge.
I have a friend that’s a fed prosecutor. That dude is a stone cold killer. If he has you, you are going down.

She'll spend about two years in "jail", but it'll be like a women's retreat.
Basically a slap on the wrist.
