Those in construction: any talk of what happens when DJT deports your workers?

Don’t mistake my title as trying to rally sympathy for illegals. I want them 100% deported. They are a drain on our resources and are undercutting our wages of American workers.

I only ask if those in big construction firms have discussed the contingency of losing some of those people in the short term and how they accommodate projects.

I see this affecting civil construction crews, large portions of roofing industry, restaurant industries, and many more.

Regardless it’s time to rip the bandaid off.

Our best ones are all legal.
If some did get taken it would cause a void because no one wants to work anymore.

Yeah but those who get visas or green cards, don’t they have to pay taxes?
Isn’t that the entire point, avoid the taxes thus cheaper labor?

Hopefully it will facilitate the conversation about trades and how tradesmen can make a killing if they’re good. Talked to a kid about that recently. Four year degrees in transgender basket weaving are still being given out while skilled positions are in need and pay well.

There are plenty of immigrants working in construction. Not sure how many are illegal, but it’s a valid concern to a certain degree.

They already put us out of business. Unless you have hordes of Mexicans on standby, you can hardly be competitive with bidding work.

An attorney for work visas isn’t overly expensive.

Who do you think catches all the crawfish? lol

If you’re legal, you can still opt to work 1099. I don’t think that goes away for employers.

All we need to do is demand that the welfare roles be trimmed to actual need - and to explicitly exclude ANY able bodied, healthy, adult from collecting ONE DIME of 'welfare $" - they can either find a job or find a friend to support them - or starve.

Take the trash off the streets by employing the ones causing the trash.

No large firms are cooking the books on federal and state income and employment taxes. Huge trouble for them if so.

The way they do it is the sub it out to a smaller contractor who is willing to take a 1099 and pay the illegals cash. He then claims the leftover as personal income but makes sure that he is covering his 30'ish % for his taxes at the EOY.

The large firms aren't really getting cheap labor. Just the subs who would have to raise their rates if they were on the up and up in order to keep their same margins but that could make them uncompetitive.

They have cracked way down on 1099s the past few years. It's not as broad as it used to be.

They will be replaced and houses will be built better. Because the illegals that came here are Mexico's rejects and aren't worth a shite anyway. They do shitty work for cheap and its pathetic that contractors put up with it. especially the framers and trim guys.
