I hate to say it but as a messed up world is now, we are not for away from drones and facial recognition. AI is advanced enough to locate and recognize these gangs. This world is headed down hill and there won't be any stopping the decent.

I believe that would be what Chicago's Kim Foxx calls 'mutual combat'.
Anybody remember that? Foxx didn't press charges on gangbangers who were shooting at each other in the city because she said it was mutual combat. Truly clown world stuff. 1 dead, 2 injured.
Things could get ugly in the sense that the MSM would have a meltdown saying Trump is using troops to kill American citizens.
Of course it's radio silence when there are 50 shootings and 5 dead every weekend. The left doesn't care when it's gang-on-gang violence.

No, you don't. And if you do, you're an idiot.
That said, it will be a disaster and the gangs will indeed win, one way or the other. If it turned into guerilla warfare, the troops stand no chance. The past 70 or so yrs of history says we are terrible at war unless we can carpet bomb. And if we start losing too many guardsmen, Trumps ego will force him to send in more troops and become even more aggressive, and the downward spiral speeds up.
On top of this, it'll be a PR nightmare that the administration cannot win. Every day a kid or some other innocent person is shot, you can bet your left nut it'll be reported that they were shot by a guardsman. Once the first one happens, they'll start shooting innocents on purpose knowing how it'll be portrayed.
Then the innocent who just want safe neighborhoods will also turn against the administration.
If Pritzker says no, then leave them be.

It sounds great when you say it out loud, but it would not go down the way you think it would. We suck at guerilla warfare. Guardsmen in open streets being shot and killed from windows three stories up. Then what? Spray bullets into a home? Start breaking down doors and force entry? That'll look amazing on TV, wouldn't it?
We'd stand zero chance of winning either an actual war or the propaganda war. It would end badly for the administration. Very badly.

I think it would be interesting to set up a meeting with the heads of the gangs and deputized them to get rid of the illegal immigrants and let them run rough shot over Chicago and get rid of all of them
