This is why there is no sympathy for a fedgov shutdown

In the private sector, when a company stops making money, and starts losing money, they start cutting back, making layoffs. I know, i've experienced it firsthand. It's knowledge us private industry folks realize, and accept. Each private employee must provide value to a company, or they are subject to audit. It's why we save for such things.
In the federal world, government workers don't have to worry about this. As a fedgov worker, your company doesn't make money. There is also plenty of waste. So if you are without a pay check for 3,4,5 weeks, so what? You still have a job when the shutdown ends. It's an inconvenience, yes, but often people learn from it. I will bet that any SMART fedgov worker who is sweating right now, will have savings in the eventuality this happens again in the future.
I say this, and the left is "horrified". Why? Because adults have to experience hardship every now and then? Why is that so terrible? I've gone a few weeks without a paycheck. It sucks, but luckily, i had funds available to float me until I got another job. If these fedgov workers find it tough, maybe they find a job in the private industry? Or maybe they work a part time job to make ends meet.
Small price to pay for stronger border security long term.

I would have sympathy for private sector employees that work hard also. It sucks any way you cut it.
I agree with the shutdown but that doesn't mean my heart has to grow cold.
MAGA

Yep. Federal employees are like oilfield baws when it comes to spending. Except they don’t lose everything because the industry hits a downturn.

Are you calling them dumb for not learning a lesson and starting to save?

But people like TSA workers don't make nearly the amount of money
It's not like these guys are pulling in 2K+ a week and blowing their money on F-250s

No
I'm calling the OP dumb
Many of these people simply don't make enough money to accrue any large safety net that could get them through months without pay

Except oilfield baws are not sitting at home waiting for their original job to come back. They are usually hustling another job.

Many federal jobs simply do not exist in the private sector. I'm a federal agent and have no desire to be in a line of work that doesn't serve my country.

who do you blame for the shutdown?
what is the general mood of your co-workers?
how many people do you know that are getting loans?
info on credit unions offering favorable loans to fed workers

i am sure all you would be very understanding of an HR glitch that holds up direct deposit for a week or two.
People work and expect to be paid for it. You can have a debate as to whether or not you think their positions are necessary or justified, but it is pretty unreasonable to expect people to quietly accept working without compensation.

They are free to look for another job anytime they please. Trump isn't holding them back from doing so.

I upvoted your last post but are saying it’s not dumb not to have money in savings? Especially considering how relatively common Govt shutdowns are. Maybe not common but has happened many times recently.
