That is the subliminal part

This is not social studies, but identification politics 101. In second grade. Leftists celebrate.

You think just because a SJW teacher teaches something in a classroom that it's appropriate for them to do so?

What is being argued are social issues that are being taught to children for the sake of indoctrination to further push one side of those issues. Not only that, but some of these issues such as transgenderism are actually contrary to biology, which is something children are typically taught in school and is less focused on nothing more than public opinion.

There are plenty of ways that people in the world operate that are not relevant or appropriate for a second grade classroom. Some of you are being willfully obtuse.

Is 7th grade sex education not the standard anymore? I would say early middle school. I think that's an appropriate time to discuss romantic attraction and where it leads.

My 5 year old has been exposed to this subject since she was born, since my wife's uncle is gay and has a lifelong partner. It is pretty simple to explain and kids don't really question it further once explained.

For clarity, I agree with this. Mine, both under 9, already know what being gay means. I, like your daughter, had the gay uncle and his partner around my whole childhood. No big deal.

The gender confusion is a seperate issue, IMO.

I just wonder when the SJW's will figure out a way to start protesting Gender reveal parties. It's quite the conundrum for them since it is not the right of the parents to reveal the gender of the unborn since the unborn can't decide on which gender it wants to be. And yet the unborn really isn't a person to them. Hmmm.

I would classify it as social studies.

My memory of social studies was mostly geography

We can. But there are countless examples of thing that I would personally prefer to teach my child. Sexual orientation is one of those things.

Reason number 2,687 why if I have kids they will never step foot inside of a public school.

That shite is in no way, shape, or form appropriate to be teaching 2nd graders.

I know and I get it. But her point was Ben's hypocrisy, which is equally valid to him pointing out her hypocrisy.

Do you feel all education in schools should be handled the same way?

Where do you draw the line?

Absolutely.

You should definitely home school your child then, so you can control when things are taught.

You are going to laugh when you realize that most private schools use the same curriculum and books as public schools do.

If you send your kid to a religious school... you might be able to avoid this. But those are changing by the day too.
