Came up in another thread and I thought it would be interesting to see as many people as possible chime in. If you're basically a liberal, you can't possibly support EVERY liberal stance can you? or conservative? Or libertarian, or whatever.

I'll start this show off. I'm fairly conservative, but the GOP's insistence on going after pot infuriates me almost as much as the fight they put up against gay marriage.

It's none of the government's business if you smoke the herb or not, or take dick in the arse. Simple as that.

Now it's yall's turn.

I'm Conservative and believe "my side" (politicians) has done a terrible job at standing up for Conservative values (only giving lip service) and has had no spine to speak of to fight against the unethical tactics of the left.

Of all the things that need fixing, this SHOULD be #985,398,110,438 on the list

That is in no way related to the question asked in the OP, were you taught how to read in a Baltimore area school by chance?

Sorry for expressing a frustration that I thought was related to your OP.

I hate how eager "my side" is to go to war in the world. Happy?

I'm in the middle but I hate that too.

Also, get annoyed and honestly want to pull my vote from anyone who talks about 'values' in an across the board way. 'You don't know me, bitch. Tell me what you're about, not what you think a section of people want to hear' is what I want to say to them. I guess that's why I'm neither a repub or dem.

The tacit failure to endorse full enforcement of our immigration laws by turning a blind-eye to companies and corporations who exploit foreign workers, at all labor skill levels, and not telling the US Chamber of Commerce to sit down in this regard.

Well yes, that's totally different when someone who chooses to use drugs then asks us to support them. That I DO care about.

I'm anti-authoritarian and anti-imperialism which basically leaves me off the American left-right paradigm

i think we all agree that many/most republicans and conservatives in power don't actually want to cut spending. or at least will not go to the mat for it.

the prospect of tax cuts was IMV the only real carrot that could have forced them into doing so.

but we decided to go for the tax cuts before going for cutting spending, and now we have spending accelerating.

so, i think we shouldn't have passed the tax cuts until AFTER getting spending cuts. and if we were unable to get those spending cuts, we shouldn't have done the tax cut. what we have done is traded huge deficits for a tiny bump in growth

I'm a conservative and I really like black people. I don't know why we strive to keep them down... Mexicans though...

I'm a Libertarian and this is an easy answer. The thing that stinks about my side is what I call 'the purity standard.'
If you list 50 important policy positions and Lib A disagrees with Lib B about one (number 37). Lib B: "You can't be a REEEEEEAL Libertarian if you don't agree with me about number 37!!!"

There are probably only 5 libertarians in America who agree on all 50 issues. And at least one of them has doubts about the other four.

I decided long ago that it was pointless to have a “side.” I’ll vote Democrat or Republican; for and against taxes; and for expansion and constriction of government.

I vote based upon what’s in my best interest and could give two shits about the collective benefit or detriment.

That being said, I’ve never quite understood why Republicans have this general desire to kill human beings as a form of retributive justice. I think it’s stinks that R’s are “pro” death penalty.

The war on drugs is an abomination that lacks even a pretence of evenhanded application across economic strata with civil asset forfeiture crossing the line from cronyism/pandering into pure evil. (Though there's as much opposition from the right as the left so it's not a perfect fit to the OP.)

I'm also pro-choice. The deadbeats have way too many babies.

And I am comp!etely indifferent about gay marriage, et al. The tactics of the advocates annoyed me greatly but my annoyance was never enough to sway any vote of mine one way or another.I

Also, my spell check says that "completely" is incorrect. How the frick else would you spell it?

Pot - don't think as many conservatives or Republicans are against pot as is commonly beieved. I think most Americans just think it's foolish at this point.

Cowardice - this is what I despise most about the Republican party. It's full of cowards. Conservatives generally are not as cowardly. Democrats will dig in their heels for anything on the DNC platform and in accordance with any Dem talking point. It doesn't matter how idiotic they appear. They will dig in and fight till the bitter end. Republicans always put forth better and more logical arguments and never have the guts to follow through with the execution. It's disgusting.

Fiscal discipline - this has been a steady grouping of lies, championed primarily by traitors like Paul Ryan. There is never a plan, only talk.

Defense spending - so many bullshite arguments for why we need to spend so much on Defense and Republicans are 100% phony in their support for servicemembers. We need robust spending and we need a lot of people in uniform - so we have the capability of steady state security operations around the globe, the ability to deploy quickly, and the ability to enter a fight at a high level of combat capability instantaneously. That costs money. But instead we have chosen to make the DoD primarily an acquisitions platform and the warfighting capability has taken a backseat. And as a result we have a DoD that is very bloated at the top tier. This is not good stewardship of tax dollars, does not prioritize the mission of the DoD, and ends up putting more servicemembers in the ground than ought to ever happen when combat takes place.

Free market - Again, traitors like Paul Ryan talk about the free market, capitalism, and similar concepts but they fail to deliver. The Fed is nothing more than a cog in a grand scheme to frick over the American people and bolster people like Soros, the Rothschilds, and others.

Small govt - more false promises from Republicans. Health care is the best example. It has been a steadily growing disaster since 1965 and not a single core issue has ever been tackled.

Transparency - both parties equally worthless here.

Civil liberties - Republicans routinely do the safety for liberty tradeoff. It's disgusting and it's un-American. The Patriot Act must be destroyed as a good start toward fixing this.
