Yet while Trump certainly has a duty to protect Federal agents working to fulfill that agenda, Trump has no duty whatsoever to protect Los Angeleans from the leaders they themselves put into office.

Im not saying your wrong, but I think you underestimate how much a crowd draws a crowd in a city that size. I have lived in DTLA. Walking up on a crowd happens regularly. This is a social outing. It may not be funded or organized or as deep state conspiracy as you think. It could just be the place to get selfie and meet people because that is how shallow of a society we have become.

Put differently, the sight of what appear to be illegal migrants waving Mexican flags as they burn, loot, and vandalize is such a bad look, I'd suspect a GOP gaslight if it weren't so wide-spread. It is about as far from a sympathy engendering visual as could be generated for most Americans.
The same premise applies to pelting US Government vehicles with large rocks as they drive by, or hurling bricks and Molotov cocktails at local police. I'd dare guess the visceral reaction by a sizable percent of US citizens watching these POS's trying to murder or mame US gov or law enforcement employees is "SHOOT THE BASTARDS!"
