FL Tech,
It does work both ways, the number of times I have told tourists not to stand under coconut trees and take pics.....the coconuts do fall....and they are very heavy and hard
The two things I miss.....we have 62 KFCs, Bojangles, Popeyes, BK, McD, Pizza Hut, Dominoes.........and not a single frickin Taco Bell.
And we have ranch thousand island and wishbone both of which suck. Then I almost fainted when I saw Hidden Valley on the shelf a few months ago, 25 years I have waited.

No it wasn't. Leftists love nothing more than shitting all over American culture. Polls consistently show that the left is completely disillusioned with the the US and many say they would leave.
The World has arrived in 'Merica and is loving what it sees. And that clearly chaps the arses of the leftists who have been telling the rest of the world how terrible it is in the US.
Are Americans obese? Yes. It's a public health problem. And oddly, obesity tracks with poverty in a wealthy economy.
And to your "insightful" comments about fatty foods, you clearly have never heard of the French paradox.
Please be sure to comment again and shower your wisdom on the forum.

don’t care if they visit. Just keep their politics back where they came from, especially the ones visiting from the UK.
One could argue maybe their politics will change when they see our great country. Like when Boris Yeltsin visited a grocery store in Houston with Reagan. He realized the average American had access to more comfort and choice than the highest level Soviet officials. Then later helped dismantle the Soviet Union

They always claim America has no "culture". Our culture is excess and the Europeans love it.
Europeans in general have no idea of the vastness of America. They don't realize that each of our states is comparable to one of their countries, and culture is a state by state or regional thing.
Sadly much of what gets exported from the US is a sanitized or at least homogenized fare like McDonalds. Outside of maybe one or two little pockets (like the poster on the OT who was opening a Cajun restaurant in the UK), those really truly American culture experiences never cross the oceans.

Is that 2nd chick with the bearded guy going into Bucees Bonnie Blue? Sure looks like her
I was not familiar with “Bonnie Blue” so I went and examined her body of work (strictly for research purposes). The resemblance is striking, but the voice doesn’t really match. Granted, my research was rather cursory. I think I may have to go back and perform a more thorough examination.

Only in America can we over consume to an unhealthy level then invent a shot to lose all that weight with no work required

Of all people, Boy George mentioned something to this effect in an interview back in the 80s. He never expected to have the success he did in the USA. His material was produced for a UK audience, and it just happened to catch on in America by chance. The challenge came when they had to start producing material for an American audience, because each part of the USA is like a different country with its own style and culture.

They're addicted to despair when they look for shite like that.
Agreed. This thread reminds me of Yeltsin's visit to HEB in Houston. It was a watershed moment for him. He was a drunk and not particularly well-educated, but he still had far more common sense and perspective than the average American leftist.

there are few things more joyful than finding a stray onion ring in your fries. Finding paper money on the ground and pulling up to a parking meter that has over a 1/2 hour of time left are two that I can think of.
If there are spots where people commonly drop paper money, I want descriptions! Maybe I need to start hanging out by country clubs, financial institutions, etc.

We have roads wide enough for the cars we actually drive.
I once rented a car and drove all over England.
I was in Cornwall headed to Tintagel, the alleged home of King Arthur. There were tour busses bringing people in and out of town, but the road in was barely wide enough for my car. Fortunately, I did not encounter a bus. I'm not sure what I would have done if I had.

Half of the Eurotrash religion is dependent on being superior to we crass, uncultured Americans. That the false premise the theology is built on is being torn down in real time by average Euro soccer fans is glorious.

Was that the grocery store visit where HW Bush was similarly amazed at the grocery scanning device?

I've entertained the fantasy of opening a southern cooking restaurant in England.

And if they stick around long enough the healthcare costs will bankrupt them

Ten or so years ago. I found a Benjamin flattened into a parking lot on a rainy night. I actually took it to my bank after it dried out so they could make sure it was real because I couldn’t believe it. A few years later, I found 2 or 3 20’s wadded up in the parking lot when I went into the office on a Saturday morning. I figure someone parked there to go party downtown and then dropped the roll when he took his keys out of his pocket. Last week I found a 10 in front of my office. Someone probably dropped it while putting money in a meter. I know I’ve found some 1s and 5s at times, too. Not really common, but more common than I’d expect.

I've seen CNN International on several occasions over the decades. If all I knew about America came from CNN International I would hate it, too. CNNI makes American CNN look like a far right network.
CNN International and the BBC are worse the than propaganda the Russians were spewing during the Cold War.

I think you are recalling the time he went to buy socks and had to borrow money from one of the guys on SS detail.
My recollection (and it’s been a long time) is that Yeltsin made an unannounced stop and Bush was not there.
