The bigger issue here is that if we do sieze it we can close the pipeline to the mainland and Iran will have to shut in their wells or burn them off to avoid a complete loss of the fields.

Even if Kharg itself were secured, Iran could still try to disrupt regional shipping. Markets would likely react sharply because the Persian Gulf is central to global energy flows.
