I was off the coast of Trinidad 2 weeks ago and between Venezuela opening up along with the fields off Guyana it’s gonna be like the oil boom n the gulf of the 60-70’s

I am, and will, crap on Venezuelan oil. Our refinery was a sour crude refinery and we had to blend this crap the few times we ran it.
We, the USA, have been refining sweet crude until the Middle East became a player. Many refineries added on or reconfigured in the 70s and 80s to run Arab Medium.
Arab Medium and Venezuelan crudes are not even close to the same, anyone in the refining industry knows this.
Not all crude oils are the same.
If you're going to challenge someone on the qualities of crude available worldwide, get your shite together.

Sorry, I wasn't clear. The deal the President described would be a home run for Americans.
I was talking about Trump's career-long habit of over-hyping something before it materializes leading to inevitable disappointment when the project he has hyped either:
-NEVER materializes or
-isn't nearly as successful as Trump promised
That tactic obviously works. The man is a multibillionaire and has been gotten more votes for president than anyone in history.
Clearly, millions of people still accept what Trump says about allegedly pending deals as true. Personally, his pattern of overselling things makes me skeptical of any such promises.
You're right, though. We will see. If the deal is half as good as Trump says, that will be awesome.

Not all sours are the same. Basrah and Arab heavies are very different from Mayan and Venezuelan heavys by sulfur content and metals.
If a refinery is running solely on Venezuelan, Mayan, or other shitty oils, it is because that refinery has a means of dealing with it. Most sour crude refineries don't process 100% of the worst, it is blended to only run a % in the daily feedstock.
Pemex Deer Park (back when it was Shell) built a crude unit back in the 90s just for Mayan crude.
I would believe Citgo and maybe Conoco is 100% Venezuelan crude compatible along with any distilling units built since the late 90s early 00s
