We are in a system in which the options to govern the country are limited between two poticial parties. That is the problem, we can only vote blue or red. Both parties have serious issues and are only looking out for themselves. They don't care about us.

The system needs to be fixed and both parties need to be ousted. We are no longer voting for individuals, we are voting for parties. That is a problem.

We need a new solution. We need to start chipping away at the ruling parties. Hold your "leaders" accountable. If they blindly vote along party lines and not what is best for the people they represent, vote them out. Stop voting on party lines in elections, that wasn't how the system was designed.

The system is broken, but we can fix it. Stop electing the people they choose for you. We have the power to change everything, let's use it.

The problem is nobody has accountability anymore.

Everyone wants someone to blame for their problems.

People talk about affordability, and while prices have risen and inflation was rampant these past few years, discretionary spending is out of control.

When people are voluntarily living paycheck to paycheck because they buy things they don’t need, they look to blame someone for their hardship.

The public is the problem. Where are the "great leaders" who are actually narcissistic enough to put up with this bullshite?

Money is the problem. Corporate money. Citizens United. A national candidate HAS to cater to billionaires to get any traction.

Obama was such a sweetheart because he asked Americans for $5 donations. He at least gave the illusion of catering to the regular Americans who are most impacted by shitty policies. Regular Americans felt like they actually mattered. No one feels like they matter to the government anymore.

The system isn't just broken, it's shattered into a million pieces. Republicans have the power to get things done for the American people, what happens? Nothing. Dems have the have power to get things done for the American people, what happens? Nothing. It's a never ending cycle that keeps repeating itself. That is no accident. These people are getting rich on the tax payer dime.

So give some concrete ideas that need to be implemented (your post is just venting - how about some specifics) and please explain why the parties that will suffer from the changes, why would they vote for them?

And what is your ideal system in 2036 (for example) if the system you hate exists? Just independent candidates? In other words only rich people?

Its not really all that different in countries that have more than 2 parties. All the parties ultimately form into 2 coalitions so you end up with a ruling party and opposition party either way. Our way just cuts out the part where the smaller parties merge into a bigger one but its still the same thing.

I vote republican even if the guy is a turd. I'd much rather a turd in office than a communist. So I can't vote Dem.

Gentleman,

While our country remains untainted with the principles and manners which are now producing desolation in so many parts of the world; while she continues sincere, and incapable of insidious and impious policy, we shall have the strongest reason to rejoice in the local destination assigned us by Providence. But should the people of America once become capable of that deep simulation towards one another, and towards foreign nations, which assumes the language of justice and moderation while it is practising iniquity and extravagance, and displays I have received from Major-General Hull and Brigadier, General Walker your unanimous address from Lexington, animated with a martial spirit, and expressed with a military dignity becoming your character and the memorable plains on which it was adopted. in the most captivating manner the charming pictures of candor, frankness, and sincerity, while it is rioting in rapine and insolence, this country will be the most miserable habitation in the Nvorld; because we have no government armed with power capable of contending with human passions unbridled by morality and religion. Avarice, ambition, revenge, or gallantry, would break the strongest cords of our Constitution as a whale goes through a net. Our Constitution was made only for a moral and religious people. It is wholly inadequate to the government of any other.

The problem is, you make a shitty blanket assumption about whole frick ton of people to try and dismiss their concerns while pretending you, your president, and anyone like you have done nothing wrong.

The stats tell me I’m not making a blanket assumption. I’m not talking out of my arse on this. I also work in the industry. I see this shite daily.

The problem are the voters. First, they're stupid and second, after they elect someone, they don't hold them accountable and reelect them......so they continue to be stupid.

Yes, but not in the ways you outlined. Extremism (on both sides) is the problem. And while a legitimate third-party threat sounds appealing, it will lead to more extremism (elected representatives who only got 35% of the vote because they wildly appealed to one of the craziest segments of our society).

The primary system is the problem. The nutjobs get to pick our options (DSA on one side, Q influenced ultra MAGA on the other).

Source: me. full disclosure: I get off on boring politicians and a fiscally-conservative, functioning bi-partisan government where the nut jobs on both sides are sidelined and we get real legislation that benefits the entire country. I know this is not aligned with those who look for politicians to fill some sort of WWE entertainment element in their lives.

Correct, but incorrect.

The problem is that "both parties" are the same party, and that the system is carefully engineered to keep the outsiders... outside.
