Caitlin Clark has generated tons of interest in women’s basketball because of her long-range shooting and deft passing. She’s been likened to Golden State Warriors great Stephen Curry, and that comparison ain’t crazy...that’s how special Clark is.
But some of the mania connected to Clark goes beyond the hardwood. She is the newest Great White Hope — a straight white woman excelling in a sport dominated by Black women.

So someone comes along and raises interest in their league, with the potential to boost ticket sales which could generate more revenue that could be used to pay all players,

They would rather wallow together in a mediocre league than ascend on the waves created by one player who is the wrong ethnicity and wrong sexual orientation. This is the textbook example of crabs in a fricking bucket.

Besides the fact that she's probably the best women's player in history, Caitlyn is much more marketable to a wide audience than the typical WNBA player. Money talks.
