Sure there will be a story here and there that tugs at heartstrings, but the current abuse is unsustainable, and everyone loses if we maintain status quo.
You might want to reconsider this when you realize that the red tape costs more than the actual benefits already

Funny, Some of our liberals here have a filter on their porn sites to include.

And if they have to start reporting income, that’s going to mess up their eligibility for all sorts of government benefits.
This is a real problem. Currently the Medicaid income cap is something crazy like $20k a year. Making that little there’s no way you can afford private insurance. So it disincentivizes people work more if they want to be able to have health insurance. It’s nuts and the cap needs to be raised a good bit

I don’t know .., I think healthcare being expensive even to upper middle class people is the reason

The main reason is the healthcare industry.
You mean hospitals aren’t really mad about “only” getting $.50 on the dollar of what their procedures actually cost? How ever will they stay in business?

I feel like making the process difficult for those who need it defeats the purpose of the program entirely. We should either solution our services to be streamlined and efficient, measured on outcomes or do away with them. This allocating money but surrounding it in endless red tape is costing us a small fortune.

Your AC guy is still claiming business income. Now he might not claim all of it, but he’s still claiming more than to be on Medicaid.

I believe it is less than .50 on the dollar, more in the .25 to .30 range. Medicaid payment does not cover the cost of medical services for hospitals. Many providers refuse Medicaid patients because payments are so low.

2 answers..
A) many recieving Medicaid benefits should not be revieving them.
B) many medicaid benefit reciprients recieve benefits under fraudulent
circumstances.
in both instances, much of the benefit is stolen by other degenerates in the family.
laziness, welfare, medicaid, etc. should have never been allowed to be a career choice

Currently I have a case worker meeting with my wife over my disabled son ( born with severe spinal cord injury) that took 7-1/2 years for him to be accepted for Medicare/ SSI. It’s not always easy if you’re coming from a family with the wrong “ demographics or income bracket
Wow that's terrible of the govt.
100% that's what Medicaid and SSI is for.
Hope they do right by you soon.

You get downvoted to oblivion for stating a fact. The amount of $ that will be spent paying contractors to develop programs and enforcement will only increase costs.
All silliness. Medicaid should only be for severely disabled confirmed by at least 2 physicians making less than $24k a year and for kids 17 and under who live in poverty. Easy to enforce without all the other gnashing of teeth.

So the same thing that hospitals and insurance companies make deals on.
I had bloodwork done at a regional hospital, they billed my insurance over 1,700 dollars. But my negotiated price because I had insurance was 125 dollars and I had yet to meet my deductible for the year. So I will owe that.
But I guess if you are dealing with Medicaid you have to price those services that high so you get Medicaid or insurance companies to pay at least 10-20% of the billed cost so the hospital or clinic can still make money or break even.

What are they indignant about? Do they take this as a personal affront? That is to be expected I suppose.

Thanks. He was accepted eventually some 15 years ago but points stand that it is not always easy for some, others are born with acceptability. That being said we seem to be in the category of regularly scheduled checkups, verifications and denial of services or denials up to a certain level. Lack of timely payments to hospitals & doctors created a nightmare scenario for my credit but I still managed to forge ahead well enough. In years gone by I had to deal with the hounds and higher interests lenders as I had a built up a couple businesses prior that employed good people that I didn’t want to have them suffer but damn the pressure was intense. It makes me just that more passed off seeing freebies doled out like Mardi Gras beads
